Flames win 9-8. Quarterly saves the day. Flames gave up 11 hits and 12 BB. Marshall has 16 LOB. Coulda/shoulda been an ugly loss for us but was for them.

Yeah not pretty. We went through a lot of pitching and still have 3 games this weekend.

Marshall did everything they could to make sure we won the game in spite of ourselves. I think our pitching staff is averaging @ 7 walks per game.

Riding down to beach tomorrow to watch the two games. Hope to see Geoff Murphy in later part of Duke game. Bet he's itching to get an opportunity against an ACC foe.

The key to pitching is get a first pitch strike.

The win over Marshall was Toman's 300th at Liberty. Only program founder and HOFer Al Worthington has won more.

We win 1-0 over Duke. Pitching was strong today with Cole only giving up 1 hit through the 1st 5 innings. Clouse followed and was bailed out in the 8th by Quarterly (are we starting to see a pattern here?) when he came in and forced a bases full double play. He closed the out ninth for the save. The lone run came on a wild pitch. A good win.

Good win. First 4 batters in lineup go a combined 0-15.

Nice weekend so far. Tomorrow is a big one. Still need some production from the catcher spot. Bean and Herndon both looked better today. If we're going to be good we need to establish thone guys around Cole. Quarterly looks like he might be the closer. Lots of solid guys in the pen we just need a few to step up for late inning work.

Yeah it would be nice to go 4-0 this weekend after losing a couple of close ones last weekend. OSU did beat Coastal today.

An opportunity to get two marquee wins in one weekend for the resume.

Looks like LU is not the only one who has an occasional identity problem. CCU is called Central Carolina. Interesting and kinda funny.

The got it right in the article, but messed up the headline. You would think someone would realize that "Central" and "beach" are not really compatible.

Bullpen blows another game. 2 out 0 and 2 pitch and Grabowski serves up a meatball to a guy with 3 hrs already. Not smart.

Stroosma strikes out again. Shocker.

That is a poor poor finish. Horrific at bats from stroosma and Allen in the 9th. Another game choked away. This program just isn't ready for the next step unfortunately.

Lose 5-4 and leave 2 on base in the 9th. Tough loss. Gave up the game-winning home run on a 0-2 pitch with 2 out in the bottom of the 8th. No excuse for a pitcher throwing a strike in that situation. It probably was not want he wanted to do. A 3-1 road trip with a win over Duke is still a good effort. Will take it every time.
