Weird scheduling. Campbell and High Point are both in Lynchburg for the second straight year.

IIRC the scheduling weirdness is due to VMI leaving the conference.

Can't lose to Longwood and expect to be an at-large team.

That effectively killed at large shots barring a huge run against quality comp. We havent done it yet so im not sure what would make us think we will.

Maybe our worst loss of season. We should never lose to Longwood........in any sport .

Also we got a little spoiled during last season's conference run. Favorable college baseball team averages losing 1 out of 3 games. Hard to sweep series and double-headers.

*edit* That's why I would love to see us get a late season series with a top team like CCU has coming up against Florida St. Good chance to pick up a quality win and still not lose any RPI with the loses.

In our situation. We couldnt and shouldnt lose to longwood this year... Period. Keep doing what were doing and we wont be talking about 3 straight regionals. You should absolutely sweep the bottom teams in your league if your a top team.

Guys - it's one game. Winning every game, even against bad teams, is very hard in baseball. Takes one pitcher to play well to give them a chance.

We will be alright...

This. Baseball is not like other sports. The best team doesn't always win because it is a game, not of inches, but of fractions of inches. On any given pitch/swing a quarter inch or less could be the difference between a popup and a home run.

Let's face it. This year's team is down just a bit from the last couple of years. They are good, but not AS good. That doesn't mean they can't win the conference and get in the tourney.

When you are trying to be an at large team and have no good win to hang your hat on, every bad loss is multiplied. Short of winning the tournament, we have no way of going to the regionals. Coastal and Radford will be there and we will be watching.

Year before last we got hot in the tourney after a loss. Were doing better this year than that year. Go check it out if you think otherwise. Go ask coach if he doesnt think we should win all 3 of those. Guarantee you he would say yes. This team has just as much talent. If bean pitched like hes capable of we have about 5 more wins. To me he and yacyk are the key. If they produce like they were expexted to this year then were dang good.

Agree with all the above. I would jut add we lack dependable arms out of the bullpen. Marsh and Clowers were "Doom and Gloom" coming out of the pen. Each had @ 0.50 ERA and any lead was safe, not so much this year (see Greensboro, Maryland, Longwood, etc). Our ERA is up and BA down from last year.

Radford obviously has a very good team but I'm not ready to concede an at large bid to Radford over Liberty quite yet.

1. We can end up with as good or even better RPI than Radford by winning two less ball games than Radford the rest of the way (our better SOS).

2. How many years in recent history has Radford been to the NCAA in baseball? Didn't CCU trump Campbell for an at large bid a couple years ago primarily on the basis of their recent tournament history? Radford may still need to "pay" their dues in baseball before garnering a bid. Hey, we are still waiting to "earn" our football at-large bid despite success. At least we have recent NCAA baseball history/success. Perhaps our history can help us trump Radford.

3. We could still play and beat Radford in the conference tournament without winning the whole thing.

We certainly could LUDad. While we have underwhelmed this year compared to the last two, we still have a couple more chances (including Wednesday) to get some key wins for our resume
