Quite frankly, I see only two real possible paths to the dance at this point in time.

1. We win the tournament.
2. CCU wins the tournament and we get an large bid.

Why do I say this?

1. Coastal is 20-10 right now with convincing wins over 5 ACC teams (Georgia Tech, NC State, UNC, USC & Clemson),

2. Their RPI rank right now is 48 with games left with UNC, Wake Forest, UNC Wilmington, and a 3 game series with Florida State. Their RPI will get much better if they don't collapse.

3. CCU is already getting some love in the Coaches Poll (40th right now).

I suppose the Big South could get a historical 3rd bid but how likely is that? We could also sweep CCU at their place. But even then an at large bid over CCU would be very iffy without a complete collapse by CCU, given their record.

Coastal's pitching has been ridiculous so far.

oh, and they're crushing the ball

so.... there's that.

may be very little we can control this season if they continue in form

I know how sensitive folks here are when someone makes a correction . . . . but CCU is 20-7. Nonetheless, your point is well taken. I wouldn't discount Campbell either though they had a tough weekend with an improved Radford team. They are 20-8 but no real big wins other than VT, East Carolina and Col of Charleston. Both CCU and Campbell have great JC transfers with Ryan Seiz type numbers - Parrett and Schroder for CCU each with 7 HRs and Hallum for CU who leads the league in HRs with 8 and is their closer. This should be at least 2 bid league hopefully because of the high conference RPI at this time. We would still have to add to our resume for us to get an at large bid as would CU if either fails to win the tournament.

The NCAA produced a winner with the term "The Dance". In fact, it's so popular that it is rapidly becoming synonymous with "playoffs" in general. Just like Jacuzzi, Crock-Pot, Band Aids, Jet Ski's, Post-Its, etc have become a general term covering an entire category.

Listed below are a few instances demonstrating that "the dance" is rapidly becoming a generic term for playoffs in general.

The BSC will not get 3 teams in. I think LU needs to sweep the "big boy" schools left on schedule, to have a shot for at-large bid. CCU gets a lot of love from pollsters, that other BSC schools do not get. I hope we win tournament and take all suspense out of getting into tournament.

This year, probably not, but there have been years past where it wasn't an unrealistic shot if one of the top 2 teams didn't win the tournament.

Were not out of at large contention yet. Our rpi was 67 before the odu win so probably low 60s now. We will have to show well against ccu campbell unc uva and umd. the bats have woken up thanks to perritt and shepherd setting the table and getting healthy. Close and sankey are both scalding and have ducks on the pond every time up. If we can get bean and stafford straightened out we can make a big run.

I was actually coming here to say that as bad as some of our losses have been, we're strangely still in the mix. We are 63 in the RPI and have played pretty bad. playing awful. We are 5-5 vs top 100 and 12-3 vs 100-200. We still have seven games vs Top 50 RPI and another six vs Top 100 RPI. We have chances to get back on the bubble.
