Nick Salisbury, Liberty’s 5-foot-5 second baseman, singled in the first inning, part of a career-best four-hit day.

Salisbury, who had just 10 hits all season and was batting .217 entering the game, raised his average to .275 with his performance. He also helped turn two double plays and had two different chances to hit for the cycle after hitting a single, a double and a triple in his first three at-bats.

Salisbury popped out in the seventh to shallow right. Before his plate appearance in the ninth, Toman told Salisbury to swing as hard as he could. The advice from Sankey, who has a team-best four home runs this year:

“I don’t know. I didn’t really know what to say. Grow a little bit?” he said with a laugh.

The diminutive Salisbury swung out of his shoes and roped a hard line-drive double off the left-field wall for his fourth hit, joining Dalton Britt as the only LU player to reach the four-hit mark this year.

Danville doesn't have quite the interest in LU that Lynchburg does, and it usually has much tighter space. They care more about Duke, UNC, Tech and UVa.

That first sentence. LU generally has little interest outside of Lynchburg and its immediate surrounding area. Roanoke cares little about anything in Lynchburg in general (other than the train), Farmville is pre-occupied with Hampden-Sydney and Longwood, Charlottesville is Wahooland.

Most LU alums who leave Lynchburg tend to go beyond Roanoke, Danville, etc. I present the following exhibits to support this argument:

It does matter early. If ur at 150 its gonna take a lot to move into at large discussion with a mediocore conference. Now if ccu winthrop and campbell hold that will help. Keep in mind we lost wvu and gt rpi games. That uncg loss is probably costing us about 10 spots right now. As th season goes on kent state and ecu will help.
