After losing their second 8 game win streak of the season, the Liberty Flames welcome in state foe VMI for the third home conference weekend in four series. Liberty has back to back sweeps of High Point and Presbyterian and leads the conference overall at 8-1. Liberty has not lost a conference series since May 10-12 of last year when they were swept by Campbell (who has given LU its only loss of the season in the Big South), and they have not lost a conference series at home since April 26-28 2012 when CCU swept the Flames at Worthington Stadium. VMI comes in winners of 7 of their last 8 including a series win over Gardner-Webb last weekend, but VMI has not won a game since 2011, and has not won a series since...well...ever...Liberty has won EVERY series between the two since they joined the Big South.

Pitching matchups:

Friday: Reed Garrett vs. Trey Lambert
Saturday: Connor Bach vs. Carson Herndon
Sunday: Andrew Woods vs. Parker Bean

First pitch Friday is set for 7 PM on Friday

Looks like they took an old Astros jersey and put their colors and "Keydets" on it. Not a fan. On another note, did anyone notice the guys on the video broadcast filling time talking about the fire pit and hotdogs, had me and my dad cracking up

Interesting note from Lang's piece:
Toman said today’s scheduled starter, Carson Herndon, will be a game-time decision after he was sent home midway through the game with an illness. Parker Bean would start if Herndon can’t go...

If Bean goes tomorrow, probably means Lyons or Fulghum goes Sunday with only one midweek game this upcoming week.

Not necessarily. Herndon could be fine to go Sunday. Could just be a day swap.

My thoughts exactly. I kept thinking, I wonder if Sly is old enough to remember those stomach-striped Houston uniforms?

But on a postive note, Purple will be pleased to know that after 40 years, the LU nachos are now FBS ready! I had an order at the game tonight: the melted cheese was piping hot, and I even got an order of jalapeños on the side for only 50 cents extra.

And a great fireworks show afterwards, even if several students kept saying, "that's my tuition money!"

Beej is hell bent on getting Fulgham and Lyons on the weekend.

Hell bent...not quite, just figure if youre gonna make a one time adjustment to the rotation, why not go with one of them...they have pitched well for us (actually everybody has just about). give Herndon time to get better (depending on the illness) and then send the other to the hill midweek and then put Carson back on the hill next weekend at 100%

Plenty of no-nos were hurled in those jerseys by guys with names like Niekro & Ryan. Of course, I was all in witht he Big Red Machine back in those days. It seems like a lifetime ago.

One game early in the year they were trying to show the firepit on TV. The girl doing the TV that day was trying to roast a hot dog and she getting ready to use a straw. :dontgetit My nine year old kept asking me if she was really going to try roasting a hot dog on a straw.

I saw right after that but didn't have the audio on. That's what I was afraid of.
