Game #19-21: Campbell

After losing a midweek game due to the weather, the Flames are right back on it as they welcome the team that they beat to win the Big South Championship on the very same field. Liberty comes in winners of 6 in a row, while the Camels come to town after losing 2 of 3 to William and Mary and after a pair of games with common opponent Ball State (who Liberty split with in the Liberty Invitational last weekend)

My Projected Matchups:

Friday: Heath Bowers (4-0 0.62 ERA) vs. Trey Lambert (3-1, 2.77 ERA)
Saturday: Hector Cedano (2-0 0.54 ERA vs. Parker Bean (3-1, 3.09 ERA)
Sunday: Andrew Witczak (1-1, 6.86 ERA) vs. Carson Herndon (2-1, 5.09 ERA) or Blake Fulghum (1-2 3.32 ERA)

Campbell comes in with an impressive record, but their opponents in their weekend series/tournaments have been, on the whole, questionable at best (LaSalle, Manhattan, Delaware, Albany, Army and Towson) with only Army and Towson making it to the postseason last year. With the kind of momentum that Liberty has after a difficult start to the season, I expect a series win this weekend.

Eh...the competition hasnt been all that impressive but those are still good numbers I will agree. They send two lefties this weekend in Cedano and Witczak

I hope we sweep. I have no love for the Camels, or any other BSC team but VMI..

Any team that uses the nickname "Camels" when the school they represent is in North Carolina deserves to be embarrassed repeatedly. And with the way the Big South treats us, the more series sweeps the better, especially the Camels & Costal. But sweeping this would give us a great head start to winning the Big South regular season title and getting the top seed in the tournament.

The Big South should treat LU as equal or even better than any other school. LU is growing, where as all other schools have peaked. I guess they treat us badly because they know we will leave to play with the big boys one day.

Respect is earned not given...that is why Coastal has gotten a lot more love from the selection committee. much like with basketball, this year is an important year for us to prove we arent a one hit wonder as far as winning the conference and going to regionals is concerned. this weekend is an important step to that end

Fans of a team with the nickname "Flames" are not allowed to make fun of another teams nickname. Ever.

It's not necessarily the name "Camels" it's more that the school is in NC and last time I checked there aren't many Camels there (or anywhere in the country besides maybe a zoo).

At least there's another professional sports organization out there that we share the nickname "Flames" with. I don't think the Camels can say that...

Well, it's better than the mascot/nickname of the Rhode Island School of Design. Go Nads!

Punch four more tickets for the "shove it car" today. Star of the game: Nick Lacik 4-4, 4 RBI AND 2 runs scored

Very funny Flamehunter...our guys are totally bringing it right now. We have allowed more than 2 runs once in the last 11 games after allowing 5 or more in 7 of 8 (including a pair of 11 spots). Its great to see the offense really drop the hammer as well. As I said above, the competition that they faced hasn't been all that impressive as far as the weekends go, and to a degree it showed today
