Flames take game 1 of the doubleheader 6-2. Star of the game: Alex Close: 3-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Trey Lambert shoves it going 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs (both earned) striking out 3.

Bean also shoving it today going 8 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits striking out 5. Co-stars of the game...Ryan Seiz and Will Shepherd. Both had a double and a run scored, Seiz going 2-3 and Shepherd going 2-4.
Love to get a 3 game sweep against a team only two years removed from a CWS appearance.

Good games by the guys today. Looks like we may be rounding into form. Gauer? caught a very good game today in the first contest. Not much to complain about at all. Go Flame Train.

Indeed. Only used 4 pitchers today. Graeur has really gotten better at blocking the ball (maybe just shaking off rust and he threw out a base stealer). Seiz is playing 2b well also. Shepherd had the clutch go ahead 2b that was a superb ab. Dylan allen also looked good in game 2. Looks like we are going to rely heavy on 7 pitchers. This team can go deep if we can develop 2 to 3 more pitching options, get perritts bat going and stay healthy. Britt struggled a it defensively at both positions but i still think he will come around. Kent state will win a lot of games this year. Trust me. Also ball state and odu are looking good with victories over ranked kentucky and rice. Lets go get the sweep!

We're playing well. Toman seems to have figured the lineup out after the first ten games which was his goal. Grauer called a heck of a game that first game. We were able to locate the fastball and everything built off of that.

Our starters are bringing it right now, and so is the defense. After allowing 5 runs or more in 7 of the first 8 games, we have allowed 2 or fewer in 7 of 8 including 4 straight allowing only two runs. A win tomorrow gives us our first sweep of the year and gives us some major momentum headed into our last midweek games before conference play and the opener against Campbell.

9-1 Flames to start the 7th. They're making it look pretty easy out there. Kent State aren't helping themselves with their errors.
Streaming on WatchESPN through the Roku looks great, even better than the Xbox.

On the way to an impressive sweep of the Golden Flashes. Great job guys.

Great to get the sweep. Playing well of late, hopefully we will keep it going the first BSC series next weekend.

Liberty gets the sweep 9-1. Carson Herndon joins the "shove it" parade going 6 outstanding innings allowing the one run on six hits and (I believe) a season high for the staff 8 strikeouts. Star of the game: Ashton Perritt gets the good vibes going in his bat again going 2-4 with 2 doubles a run scored and 2 RBI. Ryan Seiz, Becker Sankey and Dalton Britt also finish 2-4.
Elon is getting railroaded by CCU down in Myrtle Beach right now and they get UMBC before our matchup.

Here's my game story from the Sunday finale focusing on Herndon recovering from the line-drive shot to his left ankle in the third inning to go six innings.

Big sweep. The guys are back to 90 in the rpi. They face a weak 2-9 charlotte team and a pretty strong elon group. Clowers and blaylock may be 2 more pitchers that we can use consistenly. We have 5 legit starters and a closer and setup man. We just need a couple guys like that to step up and use gray as your matchup lefty for one better.

The guys need to be careful to not get lazy thanks to this run of success. We gotta keep the coal going into the boiler of the Flame Train and keep it rolling down the track. Not gonna have the student support because of spring break but with continued success, we could have a ton of momentum going into the midweek pair next week and possibly a huge crowd for the High Point series. Right now though, the focus is on Elon.

I agree BJ, don't let up. Bring out the brooms every series. Getting good pitching and timely hitting now.

Turn the amp down a bit ballcoach...you tend to speak a lot in all or nothing terms so Id try to balance things out a bit. Campbell will be out for blood since we beat them at home to win the tournament last year and they are back to the same place again this year. We need to get series wins as much as possible, especially against teams like Radford, CCU and Campbell. I think the only ones we really SHOULD sweep are Longwood, UNCA, GWU and PC

Campbell just lost 2 of 3 against william and mary. Id be dissappointed with anything less than 2 wins at home.

Don't forget William and Mary was top 35 rpi and in a regional final as well last year. That being said, we should still win 2 games at home. Just making sure we aren't saying it's JUST William and Mary. Very good ball club with a very well respected new coach.

Sad we don't have the Tribe on our schedule for a matchup this year...be interesting to see how they replace the lost KSU game though. Our focus right now though, as I said above, is and should be Elon.
