Perfect number of games. Each step you play more from high school to college to minors to pros. Each sport is built off of that concept. Campbell beat mizzou yesterday. I think there 7 and 2 now. Again the only 2 decent games were mizzou and ecu and they lost to ecu. Looks like there here to stay though. This is a critical 9 game home stretch. We really need to go 8 and 1 to get back in regional discussion.

Flames looked good today. All of the pitchers threw well. Really liked what i saw from blaylock and bean. Cold day and both frosh ran it up to 90. Both guys are built like they could really add velo as well. Lyons looked excellent as well today with a big time hold. Continue to be impressed with seiz. He can absolutely rake from both sides of the plate. Graeur also swung the bat well but the wind knocked down 3 balls that had a chance to go out in warm weather. He looks much better receiving the ball as well. Sanckey can hit some as well and it wouldnt surprise me if we continue to see him against lhp. Perritt also had some good swings and was on point in his inning. It will be interesting to see who starts tom besides herndon since parks has gotten roughed up twice and fulghum has solidified his role as the midweek guy. Lotta depth on this squad. We just need herndon to put it together and get more from 2b and were gonna be ok. Really think bean is going to be a front line guy for 3 or 4 years

The high schools down here start practicing in mid-January. The baseball team at the school where I teach played their first game on February 4th.

Liberty loses 4-3 in the second meeting with Ball State. Ryan Seiz bookends two doubles and a single with a pair of strikeouts, Matt Marsh keeps Liberty in it with 4 innings of lights out baseball after Fulghum has a rough go of things allowing all 4 runs. Alex CLose goes 3-4 in the 9 hole and Perritt struggles in the field going 0-5 with 3 strikeouts. Liberty gets 40 minutes and then takes on Rider to close out the weekend with a winter storm bearing down on the area

HS baseball season starts the first of February here as well. College baseball has always been stronger in the south where not only can you practice better from January through March, but you also have a heavy home schedule in those months padding your record.

There's no reason he should've been swinging there in the 7th. Two on and no outs and he's super fast. Bunt him and he either gets the guys to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and you're 2-3 hitters coming up or he beats it out and you have bases loaded with no outs. Makes no sense.

Liberty more than makes up for leaving 11 on base last game and leads 11-0 over Rider in the 7th. Seiz finishes the day 3-3 with a HR before being pulled for a PR, Yacyk 4-4 with 3 runs scored, Close continues his torrid day going 3-4 with 5 RBI all backing Carson Herndon, who pitched 6 outstanding innings allowing the only two hits for Rider and striking out 3

Some decisions can be debated. This one cannot. Your fastest player who is hitting .215 with the opportunity to put the tying runs in scoring position with one out has to bunt. Not even a question. The players didn't get it done in other innings but that particular inning is on the coach. For those that weren't there, Ashton struck out and then Lacik hit into a double play. Left Seiz standing in the on deck circle.

This team has a lot of talent. Just hope they gain some consistency before heading into conference play in two weeks.

My buddy and i were just talking about moving seiz to 2b as he was listed as a 2b/3b when he came in. The lineup really meshes well when you can do that and rotate graeur and sankey at catcher and dh. If perritt keeps struggling i think you look at giving roberts cf and let him focus on pitching. Thats clearly his future anyway
