We have to win three of our next six to have a shot at the postseason. I don't care which three, but we need three. We are staring down the potential of a six game skid over the next week and a half. We can't afford that.

Game has been sold out for a few days. I think a lot were given away to students.

I have talked to several folks looking for tickets to the game. Frustrating, they probably gave most to the students who will not even show up.

As far as tickets being ¨given¨to students is concerned, unless something has changed those students have paid for those tickets with a manditory student activities fee included in their tuition.
This situation is something new to LU, and I do agree it will be a shame if there are empty seats because students don´t show up. In the future we need to look into ways to make sure those seats go to motivated students by making them ëarn¨them by camping out in line or something like Duke does for basketball.

Gotta love Toman. Even though we've beaten SC and UGA this year, and beat UVA last year, he's on the Flames Minute saying how it'll be a monumental task for us to beat UVA. Way to have faith in your team dude. It's only gonna be in front of a sold out crowd and you've beaten UVA before. It won't be a monumental task to beat them midweek.
Toman keeps showing that this job and the pressure to win is too much for him. I can't wait til we have a new coach next year.

That is what is known as ¨coachspeak¨SJ. There are very few who don´t use it. When Lou Holtz was coaching the next opponent was always a huge challenge no matter how bad they were. Your hate for Toman is starting to wear, and I don´t think I´m alone in feeling that way.

It's more than coach speak. It shows how he prepares and coaches the team. We never win games when he puts that much pressure on himself or the team.
Prepare to win. Expect to win.

Oldflame - I have been very positive in regards to the program since joining this board, but gotta call this one straight. Coach speak is fine - when it is backed up by "but we are prepared too, ready to compete, ready to win, etc" some positive following the Coach speak. There was nothing..... it was just "monumental task", we'll see how it goes, come out and compete

After listening to the interview, I´ll maintain it was just coachspeak. I didn´t say it was GOOD coachspeak. He could definately take some lessons from Holtz on that. IMHO it doesn´t matter a bit what he says to the media. If someone can tell me he is downplaying their chances of winning to his team in the clubhouse, that´s another matter.

Must be a recent decision (like within the last hour or so) because the game is on the schedule on the Watch ESPN page

Was just able to turn the game on. Heard Perritt hit 97 tonight and was sitting at 94. That's pretty impressive.

After allowing two runs in the first, J-Rich threw watermelon seeds for three more innings, allowing just one hit. Perritt has been lights out...throwing three perfect innings in relief to keep us in the game. UVA pitching has been almost perfect as well, only allowing the one hit

Or, college kids just don't care about underachieving baseball teams.

UVA wins 2-0 in a pitchers duel. After allowing 2 early runs, Josh Richardson and Ashton Perritt allow one hit and zero runs over the final eight innings, while UVa uses four pitchers to throw a one hit shutout

jon i love you man, but you wear your dislike of toman on your sleeve. We all get it that dislike Toman a lot. UVA is highly ranked, and been hitting lights out and their pitching has been stellar. beating a top 5 team would have been a big deal. With that being said, our pitching was terrific and our bats were cold as ice. where has this midweek pitching been for the Flames? i also feel like we clearly play up to our competition. In regards to the crowd, there were tons of people standing early and were then invited to sit down at the 4th inning. who said tickets were given away?? also the concessions staff was under staffed with long lines and JB kept looking at jerry edwards because you could barely hear him on the PA system...he looked chapped! HAHA. time to forget this and great ready for Coastal. Big South play is all that matters.

A 2-0 loss is completely respectable and is a good result. It would've been a monumental win, but I don't think it would've taken a monumental task to beat them. We have shown we have the talent to hang with them. Our pitchers absolutely shoved. We've gotta get that consistently the rest of the year. Pumping 94 is ridiculous. If we can utilize our talent, we can be very scary. We've gotta win 3 of the next 5 to have a shot at the regionals.
