That's three straight embarassing mid-week losses where our pitching staff didn't even allow us a chance to be in the game. The offense isn't doing much better either, it's time to shake up the dead spots in the lineup and it's time to give a kid like Grant a shot at winning the mid week job.
All i've heard about for 2 years is how good Graeur is. He has been abysmal on the mound to the point where i start to question why Toman had him as the closer at the start of the year. Maybe it's time to throw Justin Gunn more, he has done well in his limited duty. I've seen enough of Lyons, Graeur, Clowers & Mckelvey for a while. Mckelvey has potential he just can't throw strikes and we keep brining him in in situations where you have to throw strikes.
We're far enough along to say one thing for sure. This offense isn't the same as we've had the past few years. If we can get Willi back throwing well he might be the key to us turning this around. We just keep depleting our staff in these mid week games.

I've got plenty of things to keep me humble. This is one of my escapes. That and Vince Flynn.

What are the coaching differences in this year and last? Find that answer and you'll figure out why we aren't as good.

I dont believe it's all that. The lineup isn't as deep as it was and we don't have a good approach to hitting in my opinion. My philosophy in hitting has always been to work your opponent first but your overall goal is to work the count and get as many baserunners as possible. I may be overstepping my bounds but Cordell and Grauer are always looking to go yard and are just way too agressive. There's nothing wrong with trying to drive the ball hard but there are spots where we just stink. Aanderaud is the perfect example of a hitter I like. He works the count, trust his hands with 2 strikes and just gets big hit after big hit. Yet, he gets as many extra base hits as anyone. Guys like Sype, Britt & Lacik should never be swinging on 3-1 and 3-0 yet i've seen it happen multiple times this year. It also causes us to hit into a lot of Double plays (both line outs and GIDP). Our hitting with RISP hasn't been good at all this year either.
None of that matters though if were not going to throw the ball better in these mid week starts. We can't put up 21 every week.

Hagen gave the approach to hitting. He made the tweaks mid season to get guys out of slumps. He was the hitting coach. We don't have one anymore. We have no one developing the talent right now or coaching the guys to get better.

Do we still have someone to teach them all to bunt with 1 on, 0 out, and a multiple run deficit in the last 3 innings?
