A few months ago, after I made a few posts that were a little on the critical side (okay, maybe a lot on the critical side), I got word that Coach Toman had read the posts and had told people that he would begin praying for me. It's now come to my attention that I get the opportunity to return the favor for him.

Later this week, Coach Toman is interviewing for the head coaching position at Maryland. Since we're a Christian school, and since our coach is praying for us, it's time for us to pray for him. Please join me in praying that Coach Toman will interview well, impress the administration at Maryland, and ultimately get the job that he desires.

Thanks.

Good luck to Coach Toman, praying God's favor over him as he goes to College Park this week and that God's will is done in this process.

I pray he stays here - if not, I hope the the Maryland faithful are more supportive than some of the LU "supporters".

I'm waiting for someone to include a bunting reference. But some of you are much more skillful in such rhetoric :D

I hope Maryland is ready to bunt away their chances of winning the ACC.

Bad timing and it's very late in the year. Maryland is just an awful baseball job, the worst in the ACC. We are much more talented program with more much more potential and commitment to baseball than Maryland. If he really wants that job he should go ahead and go because thats a step down in my opinion and that means to me he's not that committed to LU. You can argue conference all you want to.

I cannot get this to work on my iPhone but if you can decipher the link below this is a very interesting article regarding the Maryland coaching search.

There ya go. I would stay unemployed rather than take a job in the UMD athletic department under the current AD.
The big thing for Maryland is they’ve got to find somebody who has a history of doing something with not a whole lot,” said Kendall Rogers, managing editor of the college baseball coverage at the scouting Web site Perfect Game USA. “Because the fact of the matter is with all their budgetary issues, they’re not going to be able to attract a big name, and they’re probably not going to be able to spend a ton of money on their baseball facilities in the next few years.”

he's going to take pay cut?? since he makes a lot here. I guess he's really frustrated by the Liberty hurdle and I'm not talking about the rules (see Andy Smith and Casey Rasmus)

I think he'll be the favorite for that job.

Don't agree with airing dirty laundry or revealing coaching decisions via message board. As shaw said this does nothing to move the program forward.

luckily we don't work for the school. And I enjoy reading @ the stuff the nobody in official capacity will admit to.

Read the Presby board if you want a straight up "rah-rah" board. No discord there and therefore a quiet forum. No thanks.

The positive impact would be for him to get the job at Maryland.

@aaronfitt
Somenames in the mix at #UMd: #Liberty coach Jim Toman, #ASU asst. Travis Jewett, #KansasState asst. John Szefc, #UW asst. Dave Nakama
@aaronfitt
Jim Toman, by the way, could also be in the mix at #MiddleTennesseeState. He's done fine work at Liberty; no wonder he's getting interest.
Looks like Coach Kline is either looking to get out or was told it was a good idea to look to get out. Either way, I hope it works.

It's a message board. As far as message boards go we do hold a lot back. I know from personal experience.
How do you KNOW it won't move the program forward? If he does leave do you know for a fact his replacement will be worse? I have no dog (literally but thats another thread) in this fight, but your statement is immature and ignorant.

We have a former athletics employee mocking a current coach using a known alias on a message board and you have the nerve to tell me that my comments are immature for wanting to bring an end to it? Forget the insanity of that prospect and look at the facts. Jon is acting like a 10 year old. A youth minister using prayer to mock at that. Please, tell me in layman's terms how this could be good for recruiting, the program, etc?

in the interest of full disclosure: SJ is a friend, but IMHO you're overthinking this one.

don't take this place so seriously.

That's pretty much it. I was making fun of the idea the Toman openly told staff members that he would be praying for me because I was critical of him. I made one post with the prayer joke in it.

Would you rather I make a fake name where no one knows who I am (like a ton of current University employees and executives on this board) and then say things? If it's my opinion, I'm going to put my name to it.

Let's see, for starters just about EVERYONE uses an alias on message boards. Secondly, he was bringing to our attention that our current coach is looking elsewhere and used sacreligous humor to do so. Big deal, I'm a fan of that type of humor. Since the bulk of the thread was about the coach leaving, not Jon's Prayer my comment was directed at a coach leaving does not help us. As for acting like a 10 year old, that is your area of expertise and I will defer to your judgement.
