I disagree. Baseball is a sport that is played far more frequently than any other major sport. Just take a look at the hectic schedules at the next level.

Count me among those who believe MLB would be stronger from a fan perspective at about 125 games. But that's just me.

Yes. But no. Yes they play too much, but I love watching it and until that changes, none of it will.

I can understand that argument, but I don't think the casual fan is going to be interested in watching 125 games any more than they would be in watching 162. Attention spans are short. That's one of the many reasons that the NFL is so popular. You only have 16 regular season games per team which means it isn't that much of a time investment for the fans. For me, I'll take as many baseball games as I can get. Of course I'm in the minority. I have the MLB.TV package, have watched several spring training games online and attended 4 games in person so far this spring.

Most ballparks would benefit from enhanced experience of having their cribs at least 50% full. Unless you are in Fenway, Yankee or Wrigley there are way too many dates with too many empty seats. If the options were narrowed down and had bigger crowds it would generate more energy (see NFL).

But of course this will never be considered because there is zero chance MLB owners would ever consider dropping any dates because of revenue loss.

That's a good point, but I'm not sure that 61 home games would sell out that much better than 81. The NFL sells out every game because there are only 8 home games. I don't think 61, or even the NBA's 41, home games provides the scarcity that would cause people to clamor to attend.
