King George standout pitcher Damion Carroll has orally committed to Liberty University, Foxes head coach Thad Reviello said yesterday.
The Flames were the first program to offer Carroll a scholarship. Reviello said Liberty's coaches noticed Carroll when he was pitching for King George Post 89 during an American Legion tournament on their campus earlier this summer.
"When you're throwing 92 miles per hour," Reviello said, "that's going to grab any college coach's attention."
Carroll was a second-team all-Battlefield District selection last season after he recorded 96 strikeouts for the Foxes.

Orally committed? I wonder if the writer of this article follows anything to do with sports?

Taft's a solid writer. Some papers have styles where they like to use oral commitment rather than verbal. That's probably the case here.

I have never heard someone refer to it as an oral commit.

Like he said, maybe its a stylistic thing. They both mean pretty much the same thing. I wasnt saying it to be on some high horse.

Back in the day, it was often referred to as an oral commitment. But that terminology is all but gone with the exception of some old school writers.
Oh yeah, Damion, welcome to the LU family!
