The Flames are the #2 seed and will open up play wednesday at 3pm against the highest remaining seed from Tuesday's games:

Game 1: #6 Radford vs. #7 VMI, 4:00pm
Game 2: #5 Gardner-Webb vs. #8 High Point, 7:00pm

Wednesday's starter is unknown at this point. I think we will see the following rotation:
Garrett Baker
John Niggli
Steven Evans
Keegan Linza

LU's pitching will keep us in every game, but we really need the bats to get going in a big way. GO FLAMES!

of the four that are in the single elimination round, Id rather see Gardner-Webb than anybody else (we cant play HPU).

Nice 3 column article in the local fishwrap about the tourney in Lexington (complete with schedule); unfortunately, Lang's article hasn't made the online version of the paper, so you can only get it in a paper copy for now.

If it's a nice day tomorrow, I may have to ride over to VMI with the top down on my Jeep. 8)

Steven Evans takes the mound in game 1 for the Flames against 5 seed Gardner Webb Wednesday. Check out this tournament preview and Tuesday practice recap with LU Asst. Coach Jason Murray.

Hopefully we didn't use up all of our offense last night against HPU. It is nice to finally be in the double-elim round, a big monkey off of the back of the program.

What's unanswered mean BJ? That's a hockey term, isn't it? Wouldn't they have through the bottom of the 3rd to answer?

BJ, I'm sitting in class (no sound), and I see that Haley got taken out. Did he get hurt when he got hit by the pitch?

Del Flame, back in grad school and checking out Flame Fans in class, just like our students do. 8)

Yes. Not sure the extent of it. I'll ask afterward.

Great start - nice to see the bats come alive - hope they stay around! Nick talked on the Murray interview of Evans' desire to get two wins in the tourney. Any idea how many pitches he threw today?

He threw 66.

Haley is going to be OK, according to the trainer. He actually hurt the hand worse sliding into third than he did getting hit on it.

Coastal really has radford's number. In their last 4 games they outscored the Highlanders 38-0  It's good to see some offense from our guys today. pitching wise we should be competitive every game IMHO.

i dont know if he could get another win but he could certainly be valuable in relief on saturday if we could make it that far. It was good to get by today with what we used. I felt like Tyler would be the key and he was certainly a big part of the change in the bats today.

they scored in the top of the first and then LU got 2 each in the first and second. Steven didnt allow another run (or hit) the rest of his time in the game today. if LU can get wins tomorrow and Friday, he will have three full days of rest before Saturday so he certainly could start thanks to his efficient start today

Beej, runs can't be unanswered until after the game is over. Those four runs were, in fact, answered because G-W finished the game with more than one run.

If you get that technical about it youd be correct...a more accurate way to put it maybe is that we scored 10 straight runs spanning the first four innings after G-W took that 1-0 lead in the top of the first...either way, we kicked their butt and hopefully the momentum can carry into the CSU game
