In a game that is merely to get some pitchers more innings, The Flames will host the Rams this afternoon. VCU is coming off a loss to Hofstra but won the weekend series. LU is coming off a weekend series win over Gardner-Webb and is on a two game winning streak. The Flames and Rams met earlier this year in Richmond with LU winning easily 11-1. Doug and Tyler Bream had 3 RBIs each in that game and Tyler also homered, and Garrett Baker threw four innings of six hit ball to get the win. GO FLAMES!

Liberty has come all the way back after Blake Forslund got hammered for 6 runs by VCU and thanks to Matt Williams (there goes that man again) hits a towering fly ball to left to tie the game 7-7...they are going to free baseball now tied 7-7 through 9 innings.

big props to LU for getting this game in as most teams in the state called off their games due to the rain. Kemmerer, Swanson, Brown, and Beakler potched very well, and matty ice again with a a clutch hit to get the game to extra innings. These guys do not quit that is for sure. I really wish Forslund would have pitched better as a load of scouts here on hand, but happy the other guys got some innings.

Gotta love Matt Williams. It's always great to have juniors who have been here their entire career. It's been fun to watch him improve since his freshman year.

Ive been surprised at Matty-Will's power this year...and I love his flair for the dramatic the last couple weeks...game winner against Lemoyne, game winner against UNCA and now today...he is certainly "Matty Ice" (as bigsmooth called him) you could also call him Captain Clutch too

the big thing is how his power numbers have improved with the new bats that have cut down the numbers of homers in college baseball this year.
