Sometimes getting swept by quality team hurts less than floudering to a weekend win in a series against mediocrity. Unless other teams on bubble do something strong then we will remain in the mix.

Just was talking to a fellow UNCA alum about this whole thing. Not to repeat everything i said before but if LU sweeps, assume they win at least 2 or 3 in the tourny... Pretty tough to keep a 43/44 win team out no matter how weak the schedule.

Then again...I think it was 2005? mighta been 2007 UNCW won over 40 games and their regular season champ, lost in the championship game and didn't get in. And their non-conference schedule that year was much tougher than LU. Additionally, as I mentioned... There are a LOT of bubble SEC/ACC schools this year.

The bubble could also help liberty because are they really going to put 10 SEC teams in?? Don't think so. I really think its a coin-flip. I can see arguments both ways....In my mind if you win 40+ games you have a dang good argument, but I can also see how a 30-35 win SEC team that has 8-10 wins in conference has better *quality* wins.

On an unrelated note the constant whining from SEC fan (aka South Carolina) about Coastal potentially receiving a national seed over them even though coastal plays 'inferior teams' is stupid. Coastal has arguably the best pitching staff (1-4) in the country -- behind Virginia -- and they've played one of the tougher non-conference schedules of any mid-major in D1 baseball.

In reference to CofC Coach Monte Lee ...
Yahoo's Kendall Rogers wrote:Rogers: South Carolina obviously is a hot topic of discussion right now with how well it is doing. What did you learn from your tenure there as an assistant that has helped you succeed so quickly at Charleston?

Lee: The big thing that helped me from a preparation standpoint is just working for a guy like South Carolina coach Ray Tanner. He is arguably one of the top five coaches in the country, and I think he is the best coach in the country. The SEC is the best conference in America and South Carolina is the only program to make both the conference tournament and an NCAA regional in every year since 2000. That is pretty impressive when you look at other programs in the league. He is incredibly consistent, a great motivator, great coach, great recruiting and working for him really has paid dividends for my career. I’d also say Liberty coach Jim Toman (who previously was at South Carolina) also has helped shape my career. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked for some fantastic coaches throughout my years of coaching.
