Is there any official website the committee uses to select the at large teams that we can follow during the year? I did a simple google search and all I could come up with was: http://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2010/rpi

there are a couple unofficial projections and sites that update (like the one you posted)... Yes RPI is used, and SOS etc. But to my knowledge there is no 'official published' RPI that is available to the public.

BTW a quick follow-up... http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/rpi/currentrpi.html

Boyds world is another great site. He used to do articles and provide a ton of different rankings and stats etc. He's stopped most of it now but does do RPI and tourny projections starting around next week (i believe). His Pseudo-RPI's are the closest/most accurate i've seen over the last couple years. He also does SOS and a bunch of other stuff.... Wish he still wrote articles and did full-time stats stuff but oh well!

Next weekend's series is going to be big. If anyone is in town, it'll definitely be worth checking out.

I know this isn't about liberty but on a side note since that loss to Kentucky CCU has been mowing people down sweeping Irvine and while RPI projections mean nothing right now they are top 10 in all projections i've seen. Baseball america also has them #8 in the poll for this week. Is this the first time a Big South team has been ranked in the top 10???

CCU is ranked #1 overall on the warrennolan.com RPI. LU 31st, thanks to our 179th best schedule (Del. St. brought it down significantly)

Games on the schedule that look like good tests for the team...

March 12-14 vs. #35 St. John's
March 23 @ #59 VT
March 31 @ #39 VCU
May 14-16 vs. #1 Coastal Carolina

Picked up one more vote this week. If we have a good week this week should have a lot more next week.

you know this is going to get very interesting because.... and i think this has been discussed a few times -- your schedule this year just doesn't really look good in terms of an at-large opportunity should you fall short in the conference tourny. Unless of course teams like VCU have monster years and pick you up.

However with Coastal being as good as they are early...its perfectly possible that a win in that series might be enough to sneak you in -- assuming you are looking at a 40 + win season. Of course the problem is -- a sweep of coastal would also ding them & their RPI enough that it would hurt your chances more than help them. Yes I know its March -- but if coastal is close to a top 10 team in may and you guys are still going strong but lacking a marque victory... Its going to be interesting. It might almost be better to win the series and not sweep in terms of an at-large.

Of course my argument would be just put a few more top 25 schools on the schedule and you don't have to worry about it...but, can't say much when Asheville's schedule looks like it does :)

I don't think we're going to "ding" Coastal's record that badly, considering the wins they already have... a two game sweep of UCI? That's legit.

And while I agree that our schedule is pretty soft, the Big South looks decent this year at the top, and we have a couple of solid series. If we win 45 games or more, I think we'll make it, based on the average SOS numbers, winning in an above average conference, and assuming we take a game, but probably need to take two, from Coastal.
