Well boys the win over Duke was great and all but now its back into conference play to close out the regular season and the Highlanders come to call on Worthington Stadium for three games. LU can guarantee no worse than a 3 seed with a series win this weekend and with a sweep can lock up #2. There is a chance at #1 but Coastal would have to lose their series to CSU.

With the threat of rain this weekend the game times have been changed. Today's first pitch is set for 4 PM with Friday and Saturday both set for 1 PM starts although with the weather looking bad for Saturday, Friday could be a doubleheader.

There's a good chance you can. I would say it's highly probable they will play 2 today, which means the second game will be somewhere around a 7:00 start.

Because the seedings are determined by number of wins and not won-loss record, it is important to maximize the odds of getting all 3 scheduled games in. If it isn't raining tonight, they will almost certainly try to get in 2 (which is why they changed the starting time). If the heavens open during the second game, they still have tomorrow and Sunday to get the 3 in. If they complete 2 tonight, and the rain holds off tomorrow, you can pretty much bet they'll go ahead and play then, rather than wait til Saturday, and if that happens, Radford can just go home a day early.

He needs to stop moving baseball games. It might rain this weekend. yes. But, it would be possible to get them in. He has run from rain all year long. We have never moved this many games before.

I had friends coming in for the games this weekend - now they can't.

No problemo.

Highs making a pitching change... the homer totally killed the pitcher's command and they're going to the pen.

RU walks home a run, and the Flames are now up 7-4 in the 6th inning. Bases still loaded.

Flames are now up 9-4 on a very controversial (for RU, at least, or good enough to get the coach almost tossed) run scoring... but we'll take it. :)

Nice game by Jefferson, seems I haven't heard that name as much as last year. As he been getting a lot of playing time this year?

I think he was hurt for a while. Plus we have an abundance of OF, so he might have gotten lost in the mix at some point...

I think they're more worried about playing the games than anything else. College teams across the southeast have lost more games this year than any year most players and coaches can remember. It's the way the weather has been. I know of two Division II schools that lost eight games to rain, including a few conference ones. We can't afford that in our conference. We have to get these games in by any means we can.

That is very reasonable to me. I think at this point it is critical that we get the games in and make them wins to stay ahead of Coastal. Then off to the tourney to beat them head on.

Proto, LU has lost six games to rain, including one conference game against CSU already that could be the difference between finishing second and third in the conference. Seeing as baseball is a non-revenue sport, they're always going to put getting the games played as a higher priority than worrying about the impact on fans. Would you rather be able to see a regular-season game against Radford or have your team in the best position possible to make a run at an NCAA regional berth? If one of these games is rained out and Winthrop wins all three of its games, Winthrop gets the No. 2 seed, which is a huge advantage over being the No. 3.

As much as I enjoy seeing every game I think it's more important for them to play rather than for me to get to watch them. If that game was to be played at 7pm last night like it was planned they would have only missed that storm by 1 hour which IMO is to close to comfort when it comes down to seeding. The way the weather is here in Lynchburg there is no way to tell if it was going to hit at 8pm or 10pm...you simply know its coming. Early on in the season I can understand keeping times as is b/c you have more dates to work with but right now there just isnt any room for rain outs.
