Winthrop/Liberty series

Big series starts tomorrow night between the Eagles and Flames. WU has been a bit inconsistent (taking the series vs. Coastal & beating UGA, but also losing a series to RU and getting destroyed by UNC last night). WU's pitching staff is young, but all of the starters have shown the ability to pitch really well, but they've all been lit up at one point or another. The lineup is solid, but they have a tendency to disappear at times too. Should be an interesting series.

This should be a GREAT series (with wonderful weather for the night game on Friday). For all the struggles in midweek games, the Flames have found ways to put it together on the weekends.

Congrats on taking game 1...Both teams' bats cooled off quite a bit in the last few innings, but LU did plenty of damage early, and the Wimmer 2-run homer in the middle of the game was huge.

The new deck at the stadium is awesome. That's a great place to watch a game.

Good game overall, and the weather was nice just a little bit chilly though. I'll definitely be there again tomorrow.

Flames in first place!
On a night when Curran Redal extended his hitting streak to a Big South Conference record 32 games, Liberty University overtook Winthrop for first place in the conference race with an 8-5 win before a season-high 1,373 fans at Worthington Stadium.

This was the first night game I have attended since the lights were installed. I loved the atmosphere and the way the guys competed. Baseball crowds at LU are different from FB or basketball in that a lot of us

are there, but there is no "baptist side", so it's all intermingled. Somewhat of a celebrity crowd with proud papa/uncle Sid Bream in the house, along with Rocco, Pinder, about half the basketball team, and of course a lot of FF regulars.
After seeing Jesse leave after the 7th inning with 2 cuties in tow, I'm thinking he may not be going anywhere.

Our starting lineup last night included 4 Freshmen and 2 Sophomores. Trey Wimmer is an amazing defensive first baseman. He saved our butts with 3 scoops on throws in the dirt. The last one was absolutely sick. I think he was recruited as Errol's eventual replacement behind the plate, but after seeing him play first, I have to believe Toman is rethinking that.

It was announced at the Spring football game that they will be playing a doubleheader tonight. Smart move. With a chance of rain tomorrow, this will assure we get all 3 games in. Since the seedings are done by total wins, a rainout is almost as bad as a loss.

The 8pm game tonight is going to be amazing weather. 65 degrees and clear. That's a perfect night for baseball.

We win game 1 of the twin bill 5-3 behind home runs by Tyler Bream and Cody Brown. Shawn Teufel gave up 2 runs in 6 innings for the win and Andrew Wilson recorded his second save in the series. Now let's get out the brooms!

Job well done, Flames!
Now, let's win the next game
