LU finally gives Lafayette a good old dose of smackdown, albeit on the baseball diamond as the Flames win 12-1.

Edit: apparently the phrase I used before is lost on some people so I decided to use something a little more clear...

Referencing back to losing to Lafayette during football season

I guess youve never heard that before? Im pretty sure its not bad grammar, "giving someone what for" is a phrase you dont see in modern parlance

BJ I think when you're reading it to yourself in your head your adding words that are not there...I used to do that all the time in middle school

You don't hear parlance either.

What is it with you and using words that haven't been around since you started college?

Hey if you got a vocabulary sometimes you might as well use it.

I have a perfectly fine vocabulary.

Knowing fancy words means nothing when the people you're using them in conversation with either a) don't know what they are or b) think you're just using them to show how much of a vocabulary you have.

Vocabulary means nothing if you use phrases like "perfectly fine vocabulary."

"Parlance" is all right since it's an actual word. "Giving 'em what for" is a colloquialism best left to the wandering ghost of Judy Garland.

you do realize that that went over the head of about 99% of the people on this board?

I refuse to believe that 99% of those here don't know who Judy Garland was.
