LU Baseball preview: Flames expected to pick up where they left off last year
The entire weekend starting rotation is gone. The infield features four new players. For most teams that made a run to the championship game of the conference tournament the year before, that would make for a rebuilding season.

Liberty baseball coach Jim Toman said he doesn’t look at it that way. And apparently, the rest of the coaches in the Big South aren’t buying 2009 as a rebuilding season for Liberty either. The Flames were picked to finish second behind nationally ranked Coastal Carolina.

“I was hoping we would sneak in there a little lower,” Toman said, admitting he ranked his own team sixth in the preseason voting.

That speaks volumes of the respect Toman garnered around the league in his first season. The Flames won 36 games, and after a stunning blowout loss to Radford in the first game of the Big South tournament, they won four straight to get to the final, where they lost to Coastal.

It also speaks volumes for the recruiting class that Toman has put together.

Is Sid Bream's nephew not a starter this year?

No. Seems like he'll fit into the mix somewhere off the bench, whether it's at DH or OF. But my understanding of the lineup is:

C - Hollinger
1B - Wimmer
2B - Jimenez
SS - Williams
3B - T. Bream
LF - Jefferson
CF - Redal
RF - Rotola
DH - C. Brown
