CHARLOTTE, N.C. – ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network, will televise the Friday, May 1 Liberty at Coastal Carolina baseball game live from Charles L. Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field at 6:00pm ET, it was announced today. ESPNU is televising a regular-season Big South baseball game for the fourth consecutive year, as the network aired two ballgames in 2006 and one contest each in 2007 and 2008. It also will be the fifth-straight year that Big South baseball will be televised.
The Liberty-Coastal Carolina contest will be a rematch of last year’s Big South Tournament title game, which was won by Coastal Carolina, 9-2. The two teams have met in the League final each of the past two years, with the Chanticleers winning the championship both times.

That should be the game when the Flames capture the regular season title!

Cool ... that may be one of the few (if not the only) games I get to see this season.

From our Athletics Communications Dept:
ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network, has announced it will televise Liberty’s baseball contest at Coastal Carolina on May 1 live from Charles L. Watson Stadium.

The telecast, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., will be a rematch of last year’s Big South Championship title game. The two teams have met in the conference tournament final the last two seasons.

Liberty tied for second in the conference regular season standings last years and reached the finals of the Big South Championship for the third consecutive season. For the fourth consecutive year, the Flames won 30 or more games in a season, fashioning a 35-26-1 mark in 2008. Head Coach Jim Toman’s team’s 35 victories were the most for a first year coach in school history. The Flames return Big South All-Conference catcher Errol Hollinger, who is on the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List for college baseball’s national player of the year award, along with starting pitcher Dustin Umberger, who led the conference in strikeouts last season.
