Well now we have our backs to the wall facing elimination against the best team int he league (even though they haven't played like it lately). If we win, we play for all the marbles. But let's see how we handle the Eagles first.

1st pitch coming up at 2:15pm.

If we don't win this one, I'm cheering for UNCA in the Championship game.

1. I want to see the Big South send two teams to the regionals
2. I kinda feel sorry for UNCA-they've come so close to many championships this year, but always ran into one of the Big Three (CCU,LU and WU) at the end and lost.

But I hope we take care of business and win this game and the next one.

Winthrop is not throwing its top guns today ... their radio guy says Hudak is saving them for the NCAA regionals. Halligan, the starter, had only thrown 14 innings all year and was done by the start of the second today.

LU strung together six straight hits in the second inning, scored four times.

Tim John makes his first start for LU this year.

T. John making the start is much like Brey starting and pitching a gem 4-5 years ago. Sure hope we can hold on as I LOVE our chances coming back and playing AshEville, tonite.

BTW, Chris--looks like you had a good game to cover last night.

Trouble ... still 7-1, but one out, bases loaded in the third, 2-2 count on Ben Ehrlich ... sac fly to deep center, 7-2.

Jake Shaffer pinch-hit RBI single. 7-3.

A.G. - that was one heck of a game down there last night. What an ending.

Jerry just said they lost the audio ...

Two outs, bottom of 4, Winthrop has Heath Rollins at first and Matt Repec at the plate. Still 7-3.

7-5. Winthrop's Alan Robbins just hit a two-run homer with two outs in the fifth.

Grijalva leads off with a double, Laurent singles to move him to third, Keller hits into a 6-4-3 DP, Grijalva scores, Gaillard grounds out to short. 8-5 LU middle of 6.

We have to stop the E's. Our pitching has enough trouble without giving them extra outs.

Nice play at short to end the inning. LU up by two going into the 7th.

Daniels has done a nice job this year--hope he can hold on--and LU can get some insurance.

Could use some more runs. 8 isn't going to beat Winthrop.

Yeah, Steve, I get the feeling they're just trying to hang on right now ... Winthrop has a runner on 2nd with one out in the 7th.

Ok, ASSUMING we hold this lead, what do we have left for the last game?

Well, that was certainly a big out.

Johnny will be pitching---Johnny Whole Staff. Imagine it will be that way for both teams. I would GUESS that LU, if they make it, would come back with Umberger--although he threw 137 pitches the other day and that would just justify all the complaints about taking care of the players.

Now is our chance. Miller on 3rd after a failed pickoff attempt. None out.

AG, I agree we'll be throwing J. Wholestaff.

That was a shot to the pitcher.

Dun da dun dun. Pitching change.
