It's a different story with football and basketball.
Ha. Wow. You've said some off base things before. This shows how out of touch you actually are. I really hope you're a parody account.

That's because it's not covered the way other sports are. You're basically saying the black kids on football and basketball teams get in trouble but the white kids who play baseball are all great kids.

I could tell you the reason why you don't hear about the stuff baseball players do but it probably wouldn't be a popular opinion around here...

EDIT

SJ didn't beat around the bush, haha

Do I win a prize?

Baseball players are never around during the season. That makes it easier to sweep issues under the rug

I honestly think that the teams the last few years have had pretty solid guys. There are bad apples but theres a lot of alex close type kids. Ballcoach should have said major trouble like gary sampson asa chapman kevin grooms type stuff resulting in misdeamenors and felonies. I said it a couple weeks ago but the program has peaked under toman. Its in good shape but i dont think he can take us much further. Hes gotten all this love for recruiting but from what i can tell we werent in the top 50 the last several years based off PG rankings. Hes also had guys like the breams and alex closes fall in his lap. Where he was incredible was the juco route, but not the last year or so. I think if he stays there needs to be a staff overhaul if we want go deeper. Again, were in a good place but not what we could be. I dont think we spent 25 mil on a stadium to just make it to regionals every other year As to the better player comment, our roster is deeper most years now than pre toman but the guys at the top 15 or so i dont think theres a ton of talent difference than pre toman. This year that isnt true but generally under toman the next 20 players on the roster are better than the lower 20. Again thats in general in my opinion and not every single year.

We've got great kids in the program. That's a testament to Toman. My point is he took flack after a couple years for the guys he was recruiting and had to change who he went after. He was able to bring in a ton of talent with one hand tied behind his back. Imagine what he could do with free reign.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if he left. If he wants to go this would be the time. There are going to be a lot of holes to fill next year. Going 0-2 in tourney and have a subpar year with majority of team back including draft picks will make next year seem much more of a challenge. Next year could be a down year. I know he has a lot going on off the field that has to affect his coaching. I don’t know how much if anything that would affect any decision he would make.
I keep hearing he doesn’t like the rules and such here as far as recruiting. I am so tired of hearing the excuses. Not just in baseball but all sports. As far as rules he should have been here when there was a dress code and many more rules & restrictions. Look at football, back in the day we had no resources and no money and had plenty of guying playing in the NFL. We have always had a decent baseball program and always had guys get drafted before Toman and the new stadium & other resources. If he doesn’t think he can win here maybe this is not the place for him. Look at softball and the talent they have brought in and bringing in. I met Dot at a baseball game a few weeks ago and seems like a great fit for Liberty & seems excited to be here. Just reminds me of the story of the shoe salesman in Africa.

I don't know why you had to bring my name into it. I haven't said anything that was not true.
I don't like Toman...He aint the coach or recruiter y'all think he is....He hasn't brought in a bunch of talent; if so why did you finish in 4th place and lose two games to lower seeded teams and are done early again this year.
If you take away year 2013 when you were down to your last out from being eliminated, then made a run; he really hasn't done a whole lot. Just saying.....facts...you may not like it...but the TRUTH HURTS!! Get a real coach.

First I want to say I think that Coach Toman is doing a good job with this program and I certainly hope he stays around and I think that there is a future for him with LU baseball. God forbid we fire him and I think it would be a mistake if we did. Yes, this year didn't pan out as planed and they underachieved in many areas and these last 2 years of late season collapses have me concerned but at least the baseball program is solid, unlike our men's hoops team was. No comparison. We did some good things this year but of course overshadowed by we way we played the last 2 weeks of the season. Time to start rebuilding and I know that Coach Toman will bring in some talent if he stays around a little longer.

No one is suggesting we fire him. We are saying now seems like the perfect storm for him to choose to leave for a fresh start.

This past season boils down to basically one thing: We did not hit. If anyone disagrees, check the batting averages and HR totals. Other than Close, no one had a good season, other than possibly Britt.

Whose responsible for not hitting; the head coach. Get rid of Toman, bring in a new better coach that will bring in a new staff and things will change.
Liberty always sticks with coaches to long; just look at the basketball program, Layer should have been fired long ago. Don't be afraid of change, especially when it's going to be for the better.
Don't know anything about him but how about going after Dallas Baptist coach, they have been good for a while now. Money talks.

Unless he's the pitching coach, the HC should be the hitting coach. A HC that cannot teach hitting should probably not be HC. I am just a fan and I could teach hitting.

Great idea about the Dallas Baptist coach! Only problem then is we would have to move Liberty"s main campus to Texas so he can still get two thirds of his recruits from the talent rich state of Texas. Hey wait a minute, if we move the campus to Texas we should keep Toman so he could use his great recruiting ability to bring in an even a larger catch of Texas talent in so that we can spend every summer in Omaha.

I've been saying this since day 1. Toman may be a nationally recognized recruiter, but he does NOT coach. There is absolutely no development that goes on at Liberty baseball. No development with the pitchers and no development with the hitters. Coach Murray's bio says he "assists with hitting instruction". This is funny because he is very frequently away on recruiting trips. There is no hitting instruction.

I think Toman needs to make a pitching and hitting coach change. If he can not see the problem, then he will probably need to look for another job.

He doesn't see it as a problem. This is his hitting philosophy. Nothing has changed in any year except the year Hagen was here and that was in spite of Toman disagreeing with what Hagen was teaching. Toman cut his teeth in the era of the SEC where you went out and got big, strong guys who could mash it and that's how you won. That's what he knows and what he believes.

We are what we are.
