There's another coach that would be a great get is interested but I've been asked to not to mention his name yet. Sorry to be Sly on that one.

Also - on the subject of Heefner - he turned down Baylor last year. He ain't coming to Lynchburg.
Apples and oranges. 8)

But I bet right now he's happy not to be there.

There are at least 6 more very qualified people, that I know of, who are interested in the job. None of them have been mentioned here as of yet.
Looks like we will have no shortage of good candidates. Hopefully JB and team will be able to sift though the list and hire the right guy for the job, no matter who that may be. I am cautiously optimistic that they will.

That's at UT-Martin. Look at his juco record. Had one of the best programs in the country.

You think he'll entertain the idea of a coach with a losing record in D1? Juco and D1 is a lot different and he already got burned with Dale Layer.

Imo, there are a lot better candidates out there.

I agree, but our opinions don't really count, it is up to JB and team to make that decision. My choice would be someone who currently has a 0-0 record, because he would get us where we need to go. However, his prospects are probably not too good because he is an unknown quantity.
In any event, it is good to see all of the interest in such a short time. I am just praying it is the RIGHT guy.

I think JB needs to be real careful with this hire. It's already late and all the college coaches are planning their next two weeks at East Cobb.( For all you parents that have lived though EC days what a grind) Needs to be a GREAT fit and a guy that is committed to the mission. Think about it JT was let go and he was winning at a 37 game per yr clip. Something happened that trumped all the wins. All the stuff is in place just need a person that can lead people and has a vision. Remember Jerry Sr and the " I want that Mtn". We need a guy that believes in LU and can see the team at the CWS. Thats way I am so bent on a Liberty guy and I mean a Liberty guy not just a grad but a Liberty guy. We need a guy that can relate to the Liberty Way of life and take that Mtn. being the CWS. I'm watching the CWS and getting fired up.

No shortage of talent at East Cobb. Anyone who knows baseball knows that is a recruiting hotbed. I played my last two years of baseball there and lost count of how many pro/college scouts/coaches show up for every tournament - which there is a tournament about every weekend from April-August.

The new LU coach will have undoubtedly had face time at EC in the past and will at worst have great connections to top talent there.

Personally, I would love to see Liberty go after Eddie Taubensee. His kid(s) go to Liberty and he was a great catcher for the Reds back in the day. I know he has done coaching (on a similar level to Dot R), but nothing on the collegiate level. I would prefer Eddie over Brandon Inge - not that ET is an option at this point.

Of the 7 names on list, I like Inge probably the most, but lack of experience on recruiting trail worries me. I also like UNC pitching coach and Dallas Baptist coach.

There has been some level of interest shown by several other coaches that haven't been named yet. Hopefully we will get the right guy, he is out there, and is interested.

You keep hinting at that but have yet to drop a name.

East Cobb is no longer to hotbed for baseball. Perfect Game has taken over in Atlanta. East Cobb is run down and not like it used to be. Where ever Perfect Game is having a tournament, that is where the College and Scouts go- Fact!

East Cobb is just the term all the college guys are using instead of Lake Point the new Perfect Game venue, esp the guys that have been in the grind for awhile. But all the college coaches will be in Ga for the next two weeks starting on Sat. I wonder if Quinn and JM will be there or have they been taken off the road.

Excited for the possibilities at LU. Having played during the era of Worthington, Richardson, Pastors - there was a standard of excellence both on & off that was expected. Whoever the new coach is has a network of LU baseball alumni across the country as scouts & coaches that would be great links back to the program. Many of them have kept up with the Liberty program from a distance but would love to help more so other young men could have the great experience they had when there no facilities to recruit with! Praying for Barber and the other leaders as they seek out the best man to lead the program! Have spoken to a few other alumni who are excited to see which direction the program is headed in. Praying also for Murray & Quinn (good guys) that they will land on their feet if they are not retained.

The coaches listed are all solid with great backgrounds. Robinson is really intriguing option with his ties to Liberty with former players and his unashamed walk with the Lord. UTM was a mess when he arrived and he has worked hard to get the program back on the map - no comparison with where LU is now. Think he would do a super job. Heard great things about Sykes as well. Do not feel Gibson would be a good fit at LU. Darkhorse candidates like Tomlin & Beasley will be interesting as well. Both of them bring the experience of not only playing for Worthington & RIchardson but also years of solid professional experience with tons of connections.

Will be interesting to watch!
