I would think he 'd be held to Saturday or Sunday, depending on how Echelbarger does Friday. They usually throw between starts but today was pretty stressful pitching and he would probably need a couple days to rest up to throw a lot of innings that is expected from a starter. Don't forget how well Brooks Roy pitched tonight. He got overlooked in these posts.

Completely agree regarding Roy as he and Lyons were phenomenal tonight along with some stellar defense. I am usually wrong with the predictions but I bet you will only see Niggli throw a couple of innings in relief as they attempt to get him back to the normal rotation for the early Thursday game against Coastal. Bet your weekend guys against Asheville will be Eck, Herndon, and Kimmerer with Marsh and Forslund ready for long relief.

Was at the game tonight, very impressive win. Don't know if I would have done anything differently. Guys turned two great double plays and our shortstop made a play that you seldom see made at this level. The entire team looked confident and they knew they belonged on the same field as the tar holes. Good game atmosphere for a cold, rainy evening. .

Carolina is loaded with pitching but doesn't have a lot of offensive punch. They threw a starter that has started a lot of weekend games for them and used 3 of their top relievers. Big win, let's get that sweep this weekend.

Enormous win. This team really is doing a good job of maximizing their talent most days.

I had not been to boshamer stadium since the renovation and that is one fine facility. What a game! There was a strong contingent of flames fans there and we were louder than the heels fans. Very impressed with our pitching as brooks Roy continues to impress and Jared Lyons has Been really effective from the bullpen. Also great to see some timely hitting and the home run from wimmer was weird because when he hit it it looked like a standard fly ball and I think most who were there thought it was going to stay in the park but the ball kept going! What a huge resume builder. UNC was a classy group and both teams had a nice prayer at home plate and their fans were very complimentary.

I was there in one of the suites along the first base side. Had a blast. Cheering for the Flames around a few Carolina fans up there. They were upset with the Heels, but very complimentary of our team. Wished us luck & asked that we not be in their regional. Boshamer Stadium is very nice. Can't wait until we get our new one built.

I wish there were more media coverage of these games, as far as highlights go. It'd be nice to see some of the big plays mentioned in this thread by the fans who were there.

SJ who were you pulling for? Normally that's a dumb question but with your openness about our current team and love for UNC this might have been one of the few times you were neutral and would have been fine either way.

My two favorite teams played and my favorite team won. I may not like the head coach but I'm a Liberty fan completely. No one coach or player is bigger than Liberty.

And for the record, I'm a big big fan of this team. It's probably my favorite team of the past few years because, from what I hear, there are a lot of simpy really good guys on the roster. There are just a couple coaches I'm not a fan of. There's a huge difference in the two.

Well I went over to the NC board to get their side and now I almost like them they were gushing about us so much.
If they get in, they'll be a 3 seed. Generally the 4's are reserved for the auto-bid schools from the weaker conferences. They're going to be a nightmare for some 2 seed though in that first game.

They probably played themselves to the good side of the bubble last night.

Agree. Fox was VERY complimentary of Liberty last night after the game. Talked a lot about them as he was watching them take batting practice yesterday afternoon. They could be a very dangerous team against a host as a 4 seed in a Regional.

I wouldn't advise a host school to use their #4 starter against them to start the Regional.
Losing a mid-week game to the #55 team in the RPI does not hurt you. Top 10 teams lose to much worse teams all of the time in baseball. For example, FSU lost to 15-22 Florida Gulf Coast two weeks ago, and got whipped 17-6 by a horrible BC team on Sunday, yet they are still the #2 team in the RPI.

It's been said many times here, but some people just don't seem to get it. Baseball is different from most every other sport, because the best teams regularly lose to clearly inferior opponents. However, Liberty doesn't fall into the "clearly inferior" category, and Coach Fox mentioned that in his postgame comments, when he said they were as good as any team we have faced this year.
