Time enough to win it, but that double play wasn't the speed-up needed.

We need to pull this out.

I assume we have a rain delay. Looks like it'll be an hour or two.

The storm is moving away but the ULL is moving towards there.

We'll see, I know college is different then professional.

I don't think we choked. I think the team went into protect mode and you can't do that against Coastal. I'm confident that if the Flames make the championship game, they'll win.

I think that was just you...I mean we needed Garrett to pitch the game of his life in this one and he did. But frankly it reminds me of the game I called on Wednesday night in Rustburg. Hits and runs were at a premium and both teams didnt give anything the whole way. Hats off to CCU for scratching out the win but you cant take away from what our guys did either

Baker was great.

It's just that you might need more than 2 runs of support to win...

We blow another game in the late innings because we don't know how to handle our pitching staff. That was completely ridiculous. Our guys are on a great run after two games, get the lead against Coastal, and then our staff completely blows it. You knew it would happen though.

You just cant please some people...if we win the game and Garrett goes the length he did would you still be saying that? We needed him to basically pitch the game of his life and he did. Yeah we missed quite a few opportunities to get him some additional run support but for him to eat as many innings as he did preserves arms for tonight and tomorrow. Now with the weather being the way it is here's hoping that they can get the game in tonight. Probably will see Niggli on the bump and if we can get a quality start out of him we still have a number of guys to go to tomorrow.

The rain delay should have meant the end for Baker IMO. It wouldn't be so bad if we brought in Beakler or another reliever and lost that way. No reasonable coach is going to expect Baker to pitch 8 innings, sit through a rain delay, re-warm up and be the best option going into the bottom of the 9th.

BJ, there was a 19-minute rain delay and it was a tight game. You can't expect a kid who has averaged less than three innings per appearance to pitch a complete game after a delay against the best team in the conference. Dane Beakler hasn't picked up a baseball this entire tournament. What are we saving him for? Where's Swanson? We have two seniors (three if you count Evans who was available) sitting on the bench while we run out a tired arm against the best team in the league. It's the tournament. You can't save guys for games that you might not even be able to play.

Maybe BJ and smoothie will convince Barber that a ten year contact extension is warranted for the big guy. I mean you can start the Liberty orthopedic ward for pitchers and JUCO transfers. Sorry... the last four years reminds me of that wonderful line from Forest Gump...." you can't fix stupid " ! But you sure can fire it.

Coach Royer must be laughing somewhere !!!

Talk about a total meltdown. I gotta think some people just wanted to go home after that joke earlier today. I was told there was a high level scout there this week that said they don't even consider Liberty pitchers because they don't want guys who have been abused and already had surgery or definitely need it after they graduate. Another said they can't believe Toman has a job at the D1 level because he is the worst in-game manager in the country. I wish the players would've pulled a Varsity Blues, said they weren't playing for Toman, and then Tyler became manager with Dane being the pitching coach. Guarantee we would've been better than with our manager and pitching coach right now.
