I guess since I'm here I'll start posting some random thoughts and goings on..
First off, obviously a big win for the guys tonight. LU set a new Big South record for most runs scored in the tournament a year ago (55), and could be on their way to eclipsing that mark this year. The FLames have put up 30 runs in the first two ballgames. Also, I was informed tonight that every game in this tournament so far has had at least one team post ten or more hits.. Kinda sums up the pitching scene in the conference this year doesn't it?
Other records tonight, Liberty and High Point combined to score the most runs ever in a Big South Tournament game (30). That broke the old mark of 27, which was set twice and BOTH times included Liberty. Once many years ago against UNC Greensboro, and the other time came on the day we do not speak of when the Flames lost to UNC Asheville in the title game in 2006, 16-11.
Liberty's 20 runs were also the most scored in a game this year. That total also ties the Big South Tournament single-game record, which has now happened on four occasions.
Injury Update: Casey Brown's right hand was heavily taped prior to tonight's game. Brown injured his thumb against Radford Wednesday night when he dove after a ball in foul ground down the right field line. I'm told Thursday'sX-rays were negative. I haven't actually seen the thumb, but I heard the swelling was significant, so I'm not sure if he'll make a return this week or not.
No secret the Flames are down arms-big time. I've heard rumblings Andrew Wilson may be the guy Friday night, but that is in no way for certain. He's not even warmed up for a game yet though, and seems to be one of the very few arms the Coach Towman trusts right now. Although, Wilson is supposed to be the closer. Who knows? Perhaps, Tyler Light could face his first Big South foe of the year. I wouldn't be against it; he's looked good the last two times out, especially at Duke.
It was quite entertaining watching Bobby Gagg blow a gasket today in Coastal's 11-7 loss to Radford. After having Radford down to it's last strike, Gagg proceeded to blow the save and completely lose his mind on the mound. On one play at third base, Gagg was literally jumping up and down and "hulking up" after an umpire called a Radford base runner safe. (Gagg obviously thought differently.) Supposedly, I hear Gagg was given a "talking to" after the game.. uh, yeah.
Ok, that's all for now kids. Remember, game time is at 7pm tomorrow night, presuming the Big South isn't running late on another awards ceremony. Pre-game begins on 90.9 FM in Lynchburg at 6:45. And of course, the game is available online at
www.libertyflames.com or

Now, time for me to hit the sack and try to digest this late meal from TGI Friday's... Now THAT Bobby, was a bad call!
