Stadium looked great on ESPNU. Good crowd. Team played well. They must have talked about our facilities a dozen times. I hope some college presidents from C-USA and the Sun Belt were watching, although I know that would be improbable. I loved going to games at Worthington Stadium when I was at LU, but it would have been awesome to catch some games with my friends from 5-2 at the new stadium!

We don't need to correct Lang very often, but from Wednesday to Sunday was 4 days rest for Clowers, not 3.
He pitched Wednesday, rested on Thursday, Friday and Saturday then pitched again Sunday. Lang was correct.

It's too bad we weren't on ESPNU Friday or Saturday, especially Friday with the record breaking crowd @ 4000. Got my free T shirt today (white) Wife got a blue one and son got a red one. Great atmosphere for baseball for all ages.

After losing 3-2, we outscored one of the best hitting teams (apparently) in the conference 17-2 the rest of the weekend

We need this maryland game really bad. Our rpi is rock solid. 5 and 0 this week is doable if we can get maryland.

OK, here is how I figured it:

W-TH day one
Th-F day 2
F-SA day 3
SA-SUN day 4

He had 94 hours between the start of the UNC and Campbell games. 2 hours short of 4 days because of the difference in starting times. I'm not really a "baseball guy", so if they only count the number of days you don't touch a baseball between starts as days of rest. I stand corrected.

We need to win the Maryland game and have The Citadel game rained out before we even leave. That's a gigantic one-day trip and back for a game in the 100's. Beat Maryland and pray for rain.

One day trip all the way to the citadel who is always in the 100s is one of the worst scheduling decisions we could have made.

Long drive for sure. I keep thinking we should be adding a high rpi game but its been quiet so far. Losing wvu gt and kent state games all were huge. Gt is top 10 now i believe. I checked it earlier and we are now 33rd radford was 35th and ccu 36th or something like that. Campbell was 65 and hight point was in the 90s presby 102 and winthrop around 110. Never seen the league this deep.

He also rested for about 4-5 hours after he pitched on Wednesday and then for 16 hours before he pitched on Sunday. He had 4 nights sleep. In most any other endeavor in life I can think of, 92 hours with 4 nights sleep is 4 days rest. Apparently in baseball it's considered to be 3. Go figure.

I thought the announcers on Sunday for ESPN, while no Nicks did a great job talking up both teams as well as the Big South. They seemed way more prepared than some of the ESPN announcers in the past.

The Citadel game may have been set up in 2012 when Liberty went down there to play in the opening season tournament, but it does seem like one of those trips that makes no sense and will really tire the kids out.

Three full days in between outings, thus three days rest. That's the way it's written in baseball. In a standard five-man majors rotation, pitchers have four days between outings. You're getting too technical in your thinking on this one.

It s four days rest and pitch on the 5th. Thus once per week. After the mid 90's a number of coaches staring giving their power arms four days rest. Just like the big boys. Back in the day it was three days and if you have a soft thrower in the rotation they rebound a little quicker. But with all the TJ now coaches are walking a tight line when they run their guys out too quick.

I think a lot of the TJ injuries result from kids throwing too many breaking balls at a young age. My brother's HS baseball team faced N. Caldwell in the state playoffs. Madson Bumgarner pitched and threw almost all fastballs and change ups. His dad wouldn't even let him throw a breaking until he turned 16.

He also hit a monster home run against us. However, I couldn't get mad at him for smoking us. Every inning he got down on one knee behind the mound and prayed .

My favorite story was from when they played at North Forsyth in the Western Finals in Bumgarner's senior year. Bumgarner hit an absolute bomb and when his dad asked for the ball, the North Forsyth fans told him each ball was $5. Mr. Bumgarner looked at the NF people, smiled, and said, "That's okay. We'll be able to buy the whole dang school in two weeks."

My brother coached at Butler. Do you live in this area?

I'm from just north of Winston-Salem. Graduated a year or two before Bumgarner and interned at my high school (West Stokes) my first year in college.

Just to help you out; Madison Bumgarner played at South Caldwell High School (Big Baseball School)..there is no N. Caldwell.
