Does any Guru know why college baseball starts well before high school and professional baseball starts. February is not really baseball season.

Agreed. for a lot of these guys, they graduate during the season, and then they have to still play for almost two months after that

Sometimes I think the season should be shortened. I just do not like going to a baseball game and be colder than football season. Anytime temperature is below 60, it's too cold for baseball.

If that's your opinion, then this weekend's going to suck. Weather not above 35 in Georgia.

Also - regarding this weekend: The Georgia Tech game is off. We're now playing KSU on Friday and a DH with GaSt on Saturday.

I have seen college baseball teams play on days where if I were a football coach, I'd cancel or move practice indoors, if it were that cold during football season.

Its like Lang said though, you gotta get the season in somehow or another. For the guys who aspire to play pro ball, 56 games is good preparation for short season A or rookie ball

Les than 24 hrs. Can't wait. I heard the commercial today that all the games will be on the radio! That is awesome.

Well its a beautiful weekend for baseball in Texas. Pretty sure the weather will be nice in California and Florida as well.

Yeah, that cool front that passed through here the other night has dropped our highs into the 60s yesterday and today. At least it gives my a/c a break.

After all of the preseason hype, I am just anxious to see what we can do against strong competition so soon out of the gate.

Its a bummer, but you don't need to start talking rpi and having to win the Big South just yet jinxy. Now, if it were say, late March or early April, then you could make that lament. Besides, we don't know the reason or context behind that change

Yes you do, Beej. Losing GT is a huge loss for our schedule.

We still have a chance for plenty of quality wins this year is all I'm saying. we play one other ACC school, a former ACC school now in the Big Ten and the national runner up...twice. While I hate seeing the game being lost, its not like the quality of the whole schedule hinged on that single game.

Hopefully GT does us a solid to make up for this later in the season. It is obviously disappointing but not devastating.

The context is that it's going to be cold as ish in Atlanta on Sunday and neither team wants to play in those conditions.

That makes sense...thanks as always scribe.

I do agree with Sly that I hope we get another chance later in the season when it isn't cold as death out to play the yellow jackets.

Not only do we lose the RPI, but the GT game on Sunday was to be televised. Would have been nice to watch the team in action early against a ranked team...

Well, lets just hope the guys go out and sweep a Sun Belt team so we don't have a bad loss...

high 60's? Yeah, you're suffering...we've gotten down to the low 60's here.

At least we still have Kennesaw State. If they have a year like they had last year, we will hopefully have a good win on our schedule from this tournament.

We've got Duke, Tech and Virginia on the schedule still...we play 3 more ACC schools even after losing GT.
