I wrote that because I've heard there's been some real discussion of options other than Bean as the Sunday guy. That's why the Sunday starter has been listed as TBA on the last two sets of weekend game notes.

That said, I'd be surprised if he decided to make a move today, considering the level of opponent and what's coming up next week.

This is the biggest reason I think we don't make a chance. A shaky freshman can get some confidence against a team like PC. We need a solid, stable veteran in the midweek coming up.

I agree (having deferred the point) I think if we had a single game midweek it would have been an easier decision to put Lyons or Fulghum on today and then the other midweek...but with two games coming up, Jon's right...we wanna have both for this pair of potential RPI boosters

This week isn't the time to make a change, but if Bean continues to struggle (especially against a weak squad like Presby) we need to look at what we can do to line up the rotation so we have our best 3 available for the Coastal and Radford series.

What if he gets food poisoning from eating brunch at Arosto? Is there a plan in place for such an occurrence?
Let's not get crazy;) Eating at Arosto would actually guarantee a win... Super Human food.

Well, so much for Bean struggling. Looks like SJ was spot on about how facing a team like Presby might be just what he needed. 6 innings of 3 hit shutout ball with no walks and 7 strikeoutsbefore Clowers relieved him and now Pennington. We lead 8-0, top of the 9th. I'd love to get the 3 game shutout. man, what a message that would send to the rest of the conference.

Complete a 3 game shutout of Presby. Gave up less than 10 hits the whole series. Is their anyone hotter than Seiz (?) right now? 3-4 today.

GO FLAMES !!!!!!!!!

Ryan Seiz #s heading into today's game where he went 3-for-4:
  • In 27 Overall Games: .423 6 HRs 26 RBI ... .750 Slugging % ... .512 On-Base %

    In 8 Big South Games: .469 3 HRs 10 RBI .... 1.000 Slugging % ... .541 On-Base %
Yeah, I suspect Louisville is regretting not giving him more PT while they had him on their roster. He is going to get serious national recognition at the end of this season if he can keep this up.

I saw seiz last year in the fall and immediately thought he was the best hitter i had seen at lu in 10 years. I wasnt sure where he would play d at but 2b has plugged a need for us big time. Ive been tough on graeur in the past but he has really improved his blocking and receiving and hes lost atleast 5 hrs at home due to the cold weather. Close has lost 2 or 3 as well in the games ive been to. Dont sleep on Bean im telling you he can be a 1st rd pick in a few years with his frame and velo if he develops. Hes pitched well this year other than 2 starts. This freshman class is impressive to me. I think bean stafford blaylock could be your weekend rotation for several years. I like trying to work yacyk into lf some. I think lacik is a decent player but having yacyk in there against leftys would improve the lineup even more. Here we go boys, we have the attention of national folks now and we have 3 acc games coming up. I think were easily a high 3 seed right now maybe a low 2. Keep winning and who knows what could happen.

I agree that we have everyone's attention jinxy, but we can't lose sight of the Big South series in front of us. Let's get Duke and UMD this week then its VMI at home this weekend upcoming

Thanks Jon...its understandable that we as fans can look well ahead but at this point with the target on our back you gotta take it one week at a time...that may make me Captain Obvious but its the truth...

Youre right EL_YU...other than a couple games, since we hit March, the whole staff has been absolutely bringin it...Clowers, Perritt, Lyons and Fulghum have made a real name for themselves come draft time.

If you're going to say that, you might as well say we "need" to win every game the rest of the year. I would say we "need" to win at least one of those ACC games because if we don't it may break this great momentum we have going. 2 of 3 would be great and a sweep would be amazing.

Lacik has been doing well as the leadoff. Much better than perritt was doing. Why not move lacik to center and sit perritt so he can focus more on pitching for awhile. I wonder sometimes why some of these guys are given chance after chance to bring up batting avg. and others the minute they have a couple bad at bats they are out. Our pitchers are saving us in several of these games. I know as a team we are good but the competition in the big south has not been much

I think of the midweek games this week we need to get Duke. MD would be a fine get with their RPI so high, but its not a make or break game for us. I am with olldflame on getting 2 of 3 this upcoming weekend. VMI isn't a pushover, but they aren't setting the world on fire either at 15-10

I wuld love see to LU run the table remainder of season, but I guess that's asking too much. But at any rate, I read somewhere that 40 wins would be good in hopes of at large bid, if we do not win BSC tournament.
