The sports section are all the time making things sound better for LU than what they really are. They had JMU and Richmond in the final 4 of the 1AA tourny last year and could only talk about how LU was robbed of not getting in. These are two local teams that are barely mentioned in our paper. Now I understand that there are papers in their respective locations that cover them but come on.

Chris' job is: to cover Liberty athletics.

Chris' job is not: to cover Richmond and JMU.

No. The other ones are for UVA and Tech.

We have no reason to cover JMU and Richmond in Lynchburg. That's what those papers are for. They don't cover us in theirs.

Your right they don't. When they are playing for a trip to the national title game and can only mention very little about it that sucks. They are still in state schools that are 2 hours or less away. Especially JMU since it takes the same amount of time to get to Harrisonburg as it does to get to Blacksburg. Instead we had to hear about "The Redemption Season."

[rant]Dude come live in Richmond for a while. All I hear about is Richmond, VCU, W&M, all of which I understand, but I also hear about ODU, JMU, and George Mason, which makes no sense. They seem to go out of their way to NOT mention LU. But hey that's how it is here in the liberal capital of this commonwealth. [/rant]

Go CCU:

I actually understand your rant on the FCS semis. We should have had someone there. We're struggling with staff size now. We're down, more or less, two full-time writers, which is completely limiting what we do. We basically are done covering UVa. We just don't have the staff to go up there any more. There's only so much we can do with three writers and a correspondent. Most Friday nights, we lose a writer because he has to be in the office taking high school scores, which is pretty much a full-time shift.

Not trying to make excuses. I'm just trying to paint an accurate picture of what we're up against now.

Anyway, Flames up 5-1 in the fourth ...

Has anyone considered that newspapers are broke and just cant afford to give reporters gas money to head to Harrisonburg or Blacksburg?

Not until Chris Lang said they were short handed so I figured travel expenses were part of the problem as well.

I hate the Live Stats. The last time they showed the score it was 9-7 with Bream batting with 2 0n base, next update was 11-7. Hopefully we will get this one ack tomorrow.

ESPNU talked about Sid a good amount, I loved seeing the Red Jerseys on TV. We had a great catch by the 1st baseman(?) going into the seats. Hopefully we can pick one up Saturday or Sunday. I can't believe the Big SOuth edge isn't carrying this series.

After Jeff's viewing, Mrs. Cider and I headed over to BWW's for dinner and to watch some of the LU-Coastal game, and there was a whole long table of Flame Fans/LUnatics watching the game. I saw Super, Medic, Lefty, & TBGBG, and that's exactly the type of setting Fumble would have loved.

Our first baseman is Trey Wimmer, and he is an AMAZING defensive player. His ability to handle throws in the dirt alone has saved our butts over and over this year.

Unfortunately when Wimmer came to bat they didn't put who his favorite athlete was.
