'Shucks, we would have won that game if only Coastal hadn't played so well...."

Oh where is CJsweat at?

Other than him, you guys are right. You had chances, but just simply didn't capitalize. Continue the Fire Toman talk. FWIW, if I were a LU fan then I would say dump him too. He got you this far but can't get you over the hump.

don't ever give CJsweat the pleasure of responding to anything he says, I sure won't...

Coastal is simply better coached.Simple as that. I think talent is about equal but we continue to fall short because of bad in game management decisions...

Oh well, I didn't actually think we were going to win this game anyways

Uhm, I thought you didn't like baseball?
I love baseball. I lettered in it. I hate MLB because it's boring and pointless.

Just getting home from high point and needless to say a disappointing loss. I really questioned starting niggli but after the first inning he settled down and did ok. Our bats abandoned us again. It's not like we didn't hit the ball but coastal plays our hitters very well. wImmer has to deliver on the bunt. Connolly owns LU. He is a superb pitcher and Gilmore knows how to manage. He makes the right calls everything and especially against us. Like I said in another thread I cannot defend Toman anymore but he will be back next year.we need to get some lefty hitters and we need weekend pitching in the worst way because we really do not have many guys on our staff that I see that could be a consistent weekend starter. Had we not slumped mid season we could have been making a case for an at-large berth but what's done is done. Thanks to all the seniors for the memories and hopefully next year we can break the Coastal curse.

I will no longer support toman. The talent is very even between these two teams yet weve lost 17 in a row or whatever. The bunting, the handling of the staff and just the predictability of the hit and runs is just too much. We dont keep the oppostion honest and we play with about 23 outa every game the other team gets 27. Im done

I was hoping to come home to better news from the Hillcats game last night...I have a feeling that there are gonna be some tough decisions that have to be made in the stadium tower with the new baseball stadium being worked on and set to open next February...with a few of the coaches moving on (for various reasons), you have to think that there will be some thought to Toman possibly being bought out and asked to move on as well.

What a surprise to hear from ToC after a loss. Now I'm waiting on trot to cap it off. Go back into your hole until football when I'm sure you will attack Gill if we lose some games. Doosh!

Correct I am not sold on the Gill hire but like JB, RM, JT, and DL have had their opportunities with unlimited $$$ so will Gill only with $$$$$! Let's start praising the Librarian cause they are about to construct a 50 million dollar facility with JLFjr's $$$, the rationale you use with JB. Or better yet replace the position by trashing the person and call the new hire great cause $$$ was spent on facilities and budgets. Glad to see you have reduced yourself to name calling....it is frustrating when we bet on a horse that can't bring it to the home stretch.

Toman knows he can't beat Gilmore.

Toman tries to get creative and outside the box to get lucky and stumble upon something that will give him a shot at beating Gilmore. It hasn't worked.

Toman thinks the team has to play a perfect game to beat Coastal. He is as tight as tight can be when we play them. That leads to tight players. Tight players lead to bad fielding and no hitting.

What happened yesterday? Couldn't field a bunt and couldn't hit.

That starts at the top.

Toman has done as much as he can with this program. The talent is there. We are losing three of our four best coaches after this year. The unfortunate side of it is that our two worst ones are the ones guaranteed to stay.

As I said (I think in this discussion) I would not be surprised if they bought out the remainder of Toman's contract and told him to move on in addition to the coaches that are leaving. you have to think that with JB in attendance for the game yesterday, that is something he thought about on the drive back.

We must have been watching different games. The bunt that May put down was perfect and we had 10 hits :dontgetit I'll say it again, Coastal had the best team ERA in the country and that separates them from us and most teams. They have their entire pitching staff coming back next year

I would be shocked if this was even in his mind. I could be wrong but Toman is a JB guy and I have a feeling he may be around a little longer because of that.

We shall see though

In the newspaper Toman said we need a tougher out of conference schedule and that our conference hurt. Really? We lost ten games in the conference but beat UVa,UNC and took 3 of 4 from St Johns who won Big east conf. I am not sure a tougher nonconf. schedule is the answer.

That's just ridiculous, I don't even think he knows what he's talking about. Who cares what our non-conference schedule looks like when YOU LOSE 10 conference games. We aren't getting in the tournament as an at large doing that.

It's a "gots to go" situation.

I agree with most of the post. I guess we need to change our moto to: maybe next year. On the positive side, most of us did not expected the baseball team to do this well. I am pleased and proud of them and I am looking forward to next year. They played to the end and just got beat by a better team. Coastal probably has the best baseball team in the Big South and I wish them well.
