Cider Jim wrote:44, that's where I went to school. The old timers will remember a pretty famous Ole Miss baseball alumnus--Don Kessenger. Also, consider how full that stadium was, even though the whole town of Oxford, MS only has about 18,000 residents or less than a third the size of Lynchburg.

Let me know when you want to take a road trip. I also love the home run shower!

i had a chance to talk with JB last night and we talked about the stadium. for the out of towners the site work has begun, and once the site is prepares the retaining walls will be built along regents parkway. The stadium will have four indoor cages, a team room that will overlook the field, full length major legaue dugouts that in into the groound and not level with the field. down one baseline will be a kids play area and picnic area, and down the other baseline a student deck area.
there will be two suites as well and coaches offices and multiple locker rooms. 2,500 chairback seats. Barton-Malow Construction is the designer/contractor and have done several major projevts including: john paul jones arena, gwinnett braves stadium, baseball grounds of jacksonville, and renovations to the rose bowl, university of michigan stadium, and the joyce center at notre dame, so they are well versed in athletics projects.

Lots of leveling of that land needs to be done before they can start with the real building. It's already started, though. Toman said he expects the stadium itself to be ready for when Penn State visits in February. The operations center probably won't be finished until May. The hope is the whole thing is done in time for the tournament.

I think the dirt moving on this is more impressive then watching the monogram be created. There are different levels of dirt with a carved out road on each level. Pretty amazing and this pic doesnt do it justice but I was in a suit and it was 90 degrees so its all I was willing to do. Hopefully I or someone else (BJ!!!) will get some better pics of the different levels and the process as a whole.

Yeh, he's got the penthouse suite...I lobbied for the office but they said no....BJ WILLIAMS HAS AGREED TO COME WORK FOR US. Then I had slight hope that BJ would remember the good years of me representing his services and "throw me a bone" but instead he crushed my dreams and I'm surrounded by walls.

Thanks Beeej

Best thing BJ ever did was turn down that head coaching job at Presby. He's living large now!

The News office is right next to Planning and Construction and we get a big picture window to look out of which certainly is a blessing. We were jokingly dubbed the "weather office" by the rest of the Marketing Department as a result.

90 cubic tons of dirt are being moved. That is a lot of dirt. And even more impressive is no one has driven a piece of equipment off the side of the site.
