I was really excited about this season because I thought were going to be a really good team (which we still can be) with a regional birth and maybe even win a game or two in the region. The problem with this thinking is that I knew we were losing a lot but I just decided to ignore that. It sounds like I'm not the only person on here that ignored what we lost when thinking about this teams potential.

I think this really was an immediate gutcheck weekend. Im a bit concerned with the offensive production (or lack thereof) today but I am reminded that in 2009 we had trouble generating offense in the first few games and things got rolling after that. Im not quite ready to wave the white flag on this season since this is only the first series but I do think that the guys are gonna have to take a long hard look in the mirror tonight and somebody is gonna have to take the lead.

swanson and forslund did not pitch last year, so im not going to get too upset about the results this weekend. i would be upset if we lost to a bad team, but mercer was in the tournament last year.

I agree and disagree. I know we're going to be a good team. Swanson and Forslund are too good not to be successful. With that being said, we've got a top 15 club in front of us that's going to take the automatic bid to the tournament and our only hope of getting into regionals is for an amazing regular season or Coastal to have ten guys get hurt. If this were any other mid-major conference we could use the first bit of the year to get into our rhythm and all of that. Unfortunately, with our schedule and with having Coastal in our league, we're forced to play great baseball from day one if we want to make a run at the regionals.

Let's just hope that this team doesn't have one ounce of quit in them so they can come back today and have a good weekend against UNF.

That hurt. A big hit there might have changed the game and boosted morale. It seems like Linza has regrouped. Let's hope he can keep us in it.

Let's keep it going and get T. Bream up there with men on base.

It sounds like we might have three HRs with the old bats.

We're definitely battling. Keegan's settled down and we're starting to swing it. I really like that we've got guys stealing bases and we're playing some small ball.

haha, I hadn't thought about that but its a really good point. I'd also like to know how well those balls were hit.

I like him and I am definitely not ripping him. It's just killing me not to be there. Good grief - another rocket by Rasmus and he is 0-3!

Yeah I understand what you were saying. I really hope that the pitcher is okay but Rasmus is pounding the ball today.

My nephew's cousin (I know, weird connection) played against Rasmus in high school and said that he is a really good athlete. Besides being an excellent hitter, he has a great arm and is VERY fast! Can't wait to see him.

Has he always been a catcher? I've heard about his strong arm before.

He caught against the kid I know of. I don't know if he played other positions as well. (I'll try to find out.)

Apparently he pitched a little, but he didn't see him do that. He played two games against him in an Alabama HS tournament when he was a junior, and he said NOBODY ran on him at all.
