No, our pitchers couldn't find the plate. It had nothing to do with the umpire.
While we struggled early on, we routinely had calls go against us on multiple occasions. And while our pitchers could't find the plate reliably early on, Elon also struggled. The issue was when the ball was relatively around the plate where the calls went in favor of Elon and generally against us. On a 3-0 count Shepherd took a pitch that was low and way inside that was called a strike. That pitch would have loaded up the bases with only 1 out. Instead it lead to a ground out at short. We still missed our opportunities, but Blue was definitely had a bad outing last night too.
On the positive side, Perritt's bat came alive last night going 4 - 4 with 3 RBI's and a nice solo shot to tie up the game at 3 - 3 early on. Seiz was off last night. I saw on tv where the trainer was taping his right hand up. Hope he's okay...
