I don't get the hate for Coach Toman on this board. He has been a very sucessful coach, recruited good players and has had 40 win seasons 2 out of the last 3 years. This year he did it with his #2, 3, 4 and 5 hitters from opening day (Smith, Robertson, Grauer and Cox) missing major parts of the season or playing injured and well below 100%. He also did it with a short squad, really only 29 active players and only had his closer, Josh Richardson for one inning the whole year. If we had played Coastel in the beginning of the season when most of the players were healthy it may well have been a different result.

He doesn't only bring in good players, he brings in good kids. Not always easy to do. I wish the Coach good luck in the next four years.
+1 . . . . . and Tim Dudley who he was counting on for a live (left) arm pitched in one game.

If he stops bunting and beats Coastal I'll be happy.

I do think it's kind of neat how he came to his decision.

I think they came but with the offers and overall state of the program he had to have realized this is the best situation by far that he could get right now until he proves more

There isn't hate. At least not much of it. He is an amazing recruiter and we have fielded arguably the most talented teams in Liberty's history. The problem I have with him is we have all this talent but we haven't done anything we haven't done in the past. He has had plenty of time to be succesful and we are still stuck in the same old place.

Danny Rocco is another example, but slightly different. He took a program that was complete crap and tranformed it into a very respectable program and then progess just stopped. It was going to take him being fired or moving on for us to get to the next step. Of course we don't yet know how that will turn out but it seems to be heading in a high level kind of direction and being treated as such.

Coach Toman hasn't done a bad job, he just hasn't moved the program anywhere it hasn't already been. I hope he can do it, but he hasn't proven he will.
