Not so much...we are getting the combination that we have lacked the last few years. The pitching has been...well its been better utilized this year. Niggli has been masterful and serves as a good anchor for the staff. The relief hasnt been perfect but they have done well enough to keep teams off the board when it matters in the late innings. Im just hoping when we get to series like Coastal (the one that I think everybody around here had circled on their calendar when the schedule came out), we cant make mistakes like the ones jinxy pointed out (which are certainly were fair to mention). The defense...well the defense is "standing on its head" to borrow a hockey analogy. 9 team errors in 17 games (opponents combined have 5 times that number) and nobody with more than 3, you're gonna win a lot of games with numbers like that, as obvious as it probably sounds. Has the baserunning been perfect...no. If we cut down on mistakes like that, we're gonna finally get over that hump. That said, I see what you're sayin jinxy, I was bein facetious since I didnt see the congratulatory tone in there.

But the fact is, Beej, if you perceive that someone thinks we're still not number 1 in the country, you are dismissive of our comments. I haven't said anything but the fact that our schedule hasn't been that grueling, and yet you still found a way to attack me over that.

Just calm down my friend. Just because I point that out, doesn't mean I'm not absolutely beeming with pride about our team. The UVA game showed that we can beat a good team. Beating Siena (a loss is understandable in a DH), ODU, and Coppin State does not show that. We stomped them, but that was the expectation.

I agree with you that it hasnt been the toughest schedule jbock, thats why we arent receving votes despite having more wins than everybody in the current top 25. Would it have been better to have games against teams like say, Rice or Clemson or Dallas Baptist or Fullerton or Michigan? certainly...but we are doing well with the hand we've been dealt and at this point thats all we can ask for and that is worth celebrating.

Look at Kentucky as a perfect example. They haven't lost yet, and still haven't even got a single vote in a few polls I've seen.

Is that good enough bj?? haha
Even though I know youre being funny (or at least trying to be), that isnt good enough...this team isnt perfect. I know that, you know that, jbock knows that, we all know that. Is it the best of all time...cant really say because the season still hasnt hit the 1/4 pole. Are they doing really well..you bet they are. Can it be the best team of all time? Meh...could be. Im sure many of the "old hags" could tell quite a few stories about the teams with Randy Tomlin, Sid Bream, Lee Guetterman and many others who have paved the way. Looking at some of the past seasons I would have to think that a few of the Dave Pastors squads could be better than this year's bunch. All Im saying is (to borrow a phrase), these guys are good, and lets enjoy this wave we are on while its still riding high. Can we win a national championship? Let's win our conference first...we do still have the big bad CCU team that has had our number to contend with.

The best thing about this team so far has been the consistency. You gotta remember that this is baseball and even the best teams can lose on any given day.

So true. More than any other sport I can think of, in baseball on any given day the better team does not always win. Their pitcher who is inconsistant can be "on", with his best stuff and hitting the corners. Then your pitcher makes a couple of mistakes and they cash in on them and next thing you know you've lost.

Perfect case study to what flamehunter and olldflame said. St Johns pitchers had our boys' number today. Take the loss, build on it and get back on the horse for the Bulldogs on Tuesday in front of the home crowd

Finally got out to see a game and the guys come up short. But I definitely saw that defense everyone was talking about. There were a couple nice plays that Lib teams of the past don't make.

This week was still a huge sucess. We beat ODU on the road, they always give us trouble. Add in 3 of 4 from a very talented Johnnies team and I think we probably crack the top 25 if not were right on the doorstep.

tough loss today as the bats were pretty quiet. Kem pitched really well and the relief pitchers hung in there. Taking 3 of 4 from the Johnnies is impressive, and i really think the weekend rotation is set now. Im just curious with who we go with for the midweek games. GO FLAMES!
