Jeffersonville (IN) News and Tribune wrote:Jeff’s Crafton commits to Liberty

Jeffersonville High School junior Isaac Crafton has verbally committed to play baseball at Liberty University, an NCAA Division I school, in Lynchburg, Va., for the 2014 season.

Last year, the catcher led the Red Devils in all offensive categories. That included batting average (.465), doubles (24), RBIs (33), home runs (seven) and batting average with runners in scoring position (.370).

Crafton said he picked Liberty because of the success of its head coach Jim Toman. The fifth-year Flames skipper guided Liberty to a 35-24 record last year and a 42-19 mark in 2010. This past June, seven of Toman’s players were selected in the Major League Baseball draft.

“Coach Toman played a huge part in my decision,” Crafton said in a statement. “He knows a lot about the catching position, and it definitely shows by the number of catchers drafted from his programs. They have top-notch facilities as well, and when I get on campus in 2014 they will have made several upgrades to the facilities. It just seemed like a perfect fit all-around for me.”

Great pickup!

I'm excited for the future of the baseball program. As football seems to be dragging many sports along, baseball continues to be competitive! I think coach Toman is a big reason why many recruits come to the mountain.
