Even if they go ahead and call this game off you gotta give credit to the guys for not laying down after that 7 run inning.

the guys never quit. i think it was pitching mismanagement again. i do not know what they see in kemmerer. i would have thrown swanson after they took baker out. mark was pitching well when the delay occured.

I dont know what happened to Kemmerer...he had a really good outing, then he got a spot start against MD, got pulled (course that led to Baker having that near complete game in relief) and now he isnt doing as well. maybe its in his head or something...as for Toman...I think that maybe they decided to circle the wagons knowing the magnitude of the game they were going into and less that its a testament to the possibility that Toman isnt our guy (unless of course you have a personal beef with the guy)

It is a final now. 9-6. A lot of good you can take from this game. We had our chances and that one inning really hurt our chances for the upset. I agree that Swanson should have been in there rather than Kemmerer.

If you don't think he is still coaching the team from the stands......................................... :BS

He is light years better than where we were the last several years. I know no one will ever convince some people of that, but we will just agree to disagree.

You forgot about the pitching still being mishandled. Murray handles the hitting and we do well, play loose, and look like a very good team. Quinn handles the pitching and it's mishandled again. I see a trend.

I think if any sort of change needs to be made within the baseball program it isnt at the top...if we still have problems with the pitching even when Toman isnt in the dugout I think we ought to look at someone else...

Perfect thing would have been if they would have handled it different and asked Royer to stay on as a high assistant and handle pitching... He might have accepted that and he would have made more money under the current structure. Could have been a little unique, but Toman could recruit and Royer could have coached... Don't be fooled flameshaw - Royer did so much more with less... Not a hater, just a realist...

Believe me, I am not fooled. I am aware of things first hand that most people are not privy to. But then again, as I said earlier, we will just agree to disagree. No worries.

i am so sick of the freaking royer comparisons. i knew someone would come on and post something since toman was not on the bench today. SJ is spot on that the team needs a change at pitching coach. if you people would get behind a coach and support him instead of throwing him under the bus all the time it could help. it would be different if we were losing all the time, but we have finished 2nd behind a dang good Coastal team that was far better the past three to four years than when royer was here. do i like finishing 2nd? heck no and if a pitching coach change is not made for next season, then i will have serious reservations about toman. but until then i will support our coach. i do not know toman personally so im not posing a biased view like all of the royer lovers out there. i have nothing against royer either, but the change was made and we move forward.

Lets get this straight now...Toman is still coaching this team when he gets thrown out...he stays on that phone texting Quinn the whole time. If I hear one more time how great a recruiter he is I am going to throw up. Who has he brought to LU that didn't want to come there anyway. HE didn't recruit at USC; Tanner merely selected the ones he wanted. When you are teams like USC, UF, FSU,UM, UNC and OU; the recruits come to you and they take who they want. No one went to USC to play for Toman; but to be at USC and play in the SEC. LISTEN and LEARN!

Good to see the boys played hard; had one bad inning. Looks like we have five or six pitchers out of all seventeen that we have on the roster that we can count on. Sad.

Smoothie, I agreed with your post completely this time last year. After no change last year, not recruiting freshmen yet again, the multiple ejections and whining, underachieving, and blowing games late I have moved on from Toman. He hasn't changed at all and we're no better now under four years of him than we were before him so I'm over it. I support the team and I'm proud we played well today against a team as good as South Carolina, but four years is generally the litmus test on a coach and we're mostly through year four. He's going into his last year of his contract next year so we're left with the decision of making a move this summer (i.e. letting him go or extending his contract) or letting him go into next year recruiting with no guarantee he'd be the coach for when those kids actually get on campus.

Hey Proto...what do you think the Toman lovers would do if they knew that Toman actually floated that idea of hiring Royer back a couple years ago ? I think Superjon and maybe a few others have finally woke up to what you and I have known for 4 + years. BTW it doesn't make you and I any smarter because Pastors was a great coach too before Royer came as well. But Toman was oversold by Barber to Jerry Jr who was in his first month since his dad died. As a result he went along with Barber's plan and put Royer on the street. Even though in my opinion it was a painful mistake...Jerry , actually was smart to listen to his A.D. . He had no reason not to. No-one is perfect......not Barber, Toman, Jerry Jr and yes Royer. But the Toman era needs to come to an end because he is oil and water to the school and program. His record and the many recruits he has burned brutally just confirm the obvious. Healing needs to happen and unity within the alumni can happen with the right coach and I'm NOT advocating for Royer...but the right choice !
