yea, it was the big league club. the score was only 2-1 rangers after 5 innings. the rangers then started pitching to their own players after the 5th inning and went on to win 6-2.

Your going to enjoy having the Texas Rangers organization in Myrtle Beach. First class organization and ball players....you're really lucky to have them.

AMEN JENKINS. fridays game, was an anomaly. the guys bounced back yesterday and had every opportunity to win. this is a long season and though coastal is still king, they do have some chinks in the armor. hopefully evans will give us a quality start today.

Its not that unreal. Usually the Atlanta Braves play the Georgia Bulldogs in spring training. I'm sure they played it in Conway just as a gesture of the new affiliation with the pelicans.

yah the sox play Bc and northeastern every year as well. Generally it's the first game of spring training so they can kind of catch the guys rusty. Still it's a thrill for the college kids to play against superstars.

Nolan has always been a huge supporter of college baseball. The Rangers will continue their long tradition of playing college teams as long as he is running the show in Arlington.

Now for today, it would sure be nice to salvage at least one game from the Conway experience.

nick and doug are giving it to umpire richie tallent. he apparently has lost control of this game. the coastal pitcher threw at grimaldi and was not thrown out of the game. it seems like tallent has been calling it bad both ways.

Oh that's crap. This isn't the Coastal of the past few years. We had the lead in two of the games. We've given away at least three games this year where we had the lead and should've won. Give credit to Coastal because they have the staff to win close games and battle back.

I've about given up on this team. after seeing them in person against mercer and seeing this series and watching what games I can online i can't believe we thought we would come close to 40 wins this year. the game management is just tick poor. I feel like we coach our way out of games and when we don't do that we do something stupid like HBP or give up a dumb error to crap the game away. I'm starting to join the dark side on this board who think toman, in hindsight, may have not been the best hire.

I did a quick bit of research on the CWS champs over the last 11 years (2000-2010) and all of them were at their posts for at least 10 years...Augie Garrido (someone Im sure Sly is VERY familiar with down that way) didnt win his first CWS down at Texas until 2002 (and you have to believe that with the history they have there they have VERY high expectations...) and Ray Tanner (who JT coached under until he was hired at LU) didnt win his first national championship until LAST YEAR...Gary Gilmore down in Conway took over a team that was 20 games under .500 the year before he got there and now has them in the top echelon of NCAA baseball. Can Coach Toman get us there? maybe...but if we think that he can its going to take time and patience...something that from the sound of things are both running out.

That is true Jon...I would have to dig even deeper for coaching history among regional teams...but my point in mentioning what I did (including mentioning Coach Gilmore) is that all of those coaches have been in their positions for years...as I said at the end...can Storm get us over the hump? Its looking less likely but if he is the guy that they think can get us there then he is going to need the two things I mentioned.

So we should just sign all of our coaches in all of our sports to 10+ year contracts and disregard their first 10 years' performance. Sounds like a plan.

Ok let me put it this way...you SHOULD consider and reconsider annually where you are at and where you have come from but if you believe that someone is going to take you to that next level then you should give them a chance to take you there and not feel like they should be looking over their shoulder wondering if they are about to get canned ever year. If you dont think they can take you there, then go ahead and go in a different direction but be willing to own up to the fact that the previous coach wasnt the one who could take you to the next level (but do so respectfully).
