The guys are young and they may have hit a little bit of a wall. But we're still poking out around 10,11 hits a game. Just not stringing anything together. The pitching is worrisome. We don't have a ton of quality arms to begin with, but the injuries is an issue for 2 reasons. Depth and the reason for the injuries. I promise u this is not your random "injury bug". If it was half the staff wouldn't be either injured or pitching hurt. There are some underlying factors that could be cause for concern. However, there's enough there still for this team to do some damage between the 3 weekend guys, the bats, and the d.

Unfortunately, things did not work out as planned.Nor do I take any. We all understand there are so many ways to things and your rationale is good. I wouldn't dispute it, I believe that the execution could be better. I am a huge homer as well, and not many people are as big a Toman fan as I am. I'm fully behind him he's got the ship going in the right direction. I was just pointing out as someone whose thrown quite a few pitches in their lifetime and who has coached pitchers that there are some philosophical things that are leading to some of our pitching issues, and that is not Coach Toman's fault. I agree the extra 6 BSC games put pitching at more of a premium, but I've never been involved with a staff that was this injured. If your PC is handling guys and situations the right way things would be different. Would we still have injuries? Probably, as you always have some. A lot of our problems are elbows tho and kids this age haven't thrown enough pitches to be ripping elbows up. the injuries would be minimized not maximized like right now.
Certainly NOT taking offense (as an avid Toman/LU homer) from you LUMU11...you are stating facts and I am trying to state a rationale behind using the guys early to build up the arms.
SuperJon wrote:Someone with more pitching knowledge than me explain to me the benefits of pitchers lifting during the season opposed to not lifting during the season. You want to lift during the season. As much as it seems to contradict pitching bc most see lifting and they think "get big", but that's not the kind of lifting we're talking about. Very important to stay strong in the legs and the core. Even in season pitchers can go hard after both those areas with squat, leg press, etc. Core is all about stabilization exercises, working your main abdominals, obliques. Back and shoulders are just as important.
