Well if we defeat Winthrop, Coastal, and Birmingham-Southern, that'll definitely look good to the selection committee...they seem to have respect for the Big South in baseball.

If the committe had respect for the Big South we would be getting more than 2 bids ... We would have to defeat those teams at least twice or sweep all of them to get the committee's eye plus win 40 or more games ... I hope it happens but that is a tough order to ask them to beat all three of those teams at least twice if not all three times ...

I think the committee has treated the Big South very fairly over the last few years...I don't think any team that has been deserving has missed out in a long time (I know Coastal had a very good team left out, but that was several years ago)...more bids will come when more teams deserve them...The Big South teams that get into the tourney usually get rather favorable seedings (ie. Coastal with a #1 seed last year) and decent draws, unfortunately, nobody in the league has been able to string together enough Ws in the Regionals to move any further..

The reason those teams got into the tournament and received the seedings was because they deserved it ... Coastal had a high enough RPI to be worthy of the No. 1 seed ... It had nothing to do with a favor by the committee ... Both Winthrop and Coastal play a tough enough schedule each year, beat the good teams each year to earn a high enough RPI to get the seeding they deserve ... Coastal didn' t make the tournament the one year with a great record because they didn't nave enough quality wins and their RPI wasn't high enough ... That is why I preach RPI because it is the bible to the committee.

He didn't say anything about Coastal not deserving it. The comittee can be favorable to teams or the opposite regardless of the RPI Bible. (It happens in basketball all the time.) He just said that the NCAA was fair to the BS. Agian... you may SAY that you are not negative, just bringing the facts... but your words are different. They are negative and every time I read a post by you I get a negative vibe. That's all I'm saying by that. I'm sure you want LU to be successful, it just sounds like you may have something against the coaching staff. You may not... but it sounds like you do.

You need to quit reading into things and letting your feelings dictate what is truth and what is negative ... Once again, sometimes the truth gets confused as being negative ... And for that, I'm sorry .... Don't get confused, I don't have anything against the coaching staff ... If you read earlier, I said I want the coaching staff to succeed because they are all our graduates and that makes us look better if they succeed ... I am friends with all of them.

I never said the NCAA was or wasn't fair to the Big South ... I said that the teams that got in had a high enough RPI that they deserved to get in and thus because of that, they played in the tournament ... Trust me, I've seen it too many times where teams didnt' get in because of low RPI ... I've been told by members of the committee that when they sit in the room, that the RPI is the bible

Its time for the season to start so let's support the team, hope they win enough games to win the conference, sweep through the tournament and then they have nothing to worry about ...

What feelings? I don't have any predisposed feelings about you, the team or the NCAA. I was just saying that if the average person read your posts they would consider them negative. Whether or not you mean them to be... that is the perception.

Sometimes it takes someone else to tell you that you sound negative. I have had people say it to me in the past and I didn't realize I sounded that way until they told me. That's all I'm saying... I'm sure you are knowledgeable in the facts of baseball... but I am knowledgeable in what I perceive as negative... and your posts hit me as very negative. That's all... no "feelings."

like I said- I'm just glad to see that people give a rat's you know what about our sports program. We can agree to disagree on some issues- but its a good sign that there's a lot of passion developing over LU sports- that bodes well for the future of all the programs. It sure beats the sound of crickets chirping thru the fall and spring seasons- nothing worse than 200 people showing up for a Division 1 sporting event.
