More on Coach Quinn from the Stetson website:
Quinn joined the Stetson staff from Young Harris (Ga.) College, where he served one year as the program’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. In 2004, Quinn helped guide Young Harris to a 52-8 overall record and a GJCAA Conference Championship. Quinn also served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for two years at St. Thomas (Fla.) University.

From 1998 through 2001, Quinn served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Florida. He assisted with the team’s pitching staff and with recruiting, helping lead the Gators to two NCAA Regional appearances. The 2000 squad finished 44-20-1 and placed second at the NCAA Regional at Baylor.

Quinn also gained valuable experience in various summer wood-bat leagues. From 2001-03, he served on the coaching staff of the Cotuit Kettleers of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League, serving as the team’s head coach in 2002 and 2003. He has also coached for the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain Collegiate League and the Athens Trojans of the Georgia Peach Connie Mack Baseball League.

A four-year letter-winner for the University of Maine, Quinn earned America East Conference Pitcher of the Year honors in 1997. When his Black Bear career ended Quinn held the school records for Most Appearances in a season (26) and in a career (77). He was also second on the all-time list for Career Saves with 17. Quinn graduated from Maine in 1998 with a degree in Business Administration. He also received a Masters in Education degree from the University of Florida in 2001.

Quinn and his wife, Katie, have a 3 1/2-year old son, Jackson, and a one year old daughter, Ellie

Could be a pretty good hire here people. Has some good experience and still a young guy, should be able to really relate to the players. I like that Coach has surrounded himself with guys that are experienced, but still aren't that far removed from playing the game themselves, Quinn, Schnabel, Boles, and Jackson when he was here. It's really good to have guys that can still relate to what it's like to be a player.

On a side note, this should probably be a new thread, but has anyone seen WVU star QB Pat White's comments at Big East media day? There was actually a blurb on the college baseball blog about it, as well as some national media coverage. Someone asked him about why he never played baseball at WVU and he just threw the HC at WVU under the bus, it was pretty interesting to see college baseball come up at a BCS Conference football media day. The sport must be gaining to interest!

Garrett Quinn started a new job in July. It's his sixth new gig in about a decade.

That's how it works when you make coaching your profession. Quinn, a Skowhegan native, is the new pitching coach at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

"It's come to be a good move for my family," said Quinn, who left the University of Maine as the all-time leader in pitching appearances (77) and No. 2 on the Black Bears' all-time saves list with 17. "It was a nice pay raise, and it's a bigger athletic department."
