Imagine the dinnertime conversation at the Just household in Woodcliff Lake.
Son Michael is a senior second baseman for Liberty University's baseball team and daughter Danielle is a freshman left fielder for Manhattan College's softball team. And one is just as good as the other.
Michael, who played at St. Joseph, is one of the top players in the Big South Conference. He's hitting .364 with 16 doubles, four home runs and 44 runs batted in. Included in his .525 slugging percentage are two grand slams in three weeks. In 198 at-bats, he had more walks (25) than strikeouts (18 ). In the field, he's made only three errors.
Hopeful of being selected in the June 6 major league draft, Michael hit .300 for the Torrington Twisters in the New England Collegiate Wood Bat League last summer.
His younger sister is no slouch, either. She hit .365 for Manhattan, which finished its season last weekend with a 26-22 record, the most wins by the Jaspers since 1994.
Danielle, who played at Immaculate Heart Academy, had 10 doubles, homered twice and drove in 40 runs.
Take that, older brother.
