What about Avery Warley? The 6-3 slasher from DC. Is she actually here on campus this semester? And if so, did she qualify academically?
I heard that Avery has big-time potential.

Lang indicated in his blog that Avery will be redshirted this year.

I didn't see anything in this piece about Avery sitting out this year.

My bad ... just looked at the article again and saw that she is sitting out this year.
I guess my excitement got the best of me. We'll have to wait another year.

I think, good for her, though.
Scouting Report: Liberty lost post players Jamie Feagin and Karolina Piotrkiewicz to graduation after last season, and 2007-08 will be Egle Smigelskaite’s final season in a Lady Flames uniform. Warley was recruited to help fill the resulting void under the basket, and possesses the athletic ability and basketball IQ to make an impact at both ends of the court. However, she sat out a year after high school and will be redshirted this season, to aid in her transition to the college game

Yeah, it will be very good for her. And, if she gets even mid-level development and improvement in that year's time...wow, what a pick-up for LU!

Other than Liberty, the team I root for the most is … the Dallas Cowboys.
She's from D.C., and roots for the Cowboys?!??!! Not cool at all...

bump
Avery has been playing better than anyone could have expected this year. The other night coach called her Avery "rebound" Warley. Seems fitting since she's leading the conference in boards.

The boxscore in the fishwrap said she was was 7-7 from the field yesterday.

Avery has been a rebounding machine the last several games, but last night she showed glimpses of her offensive potential, and yes, 7 for 7 is correct.
She is easily the most athletic player her size we have had. I can't wait to see how good she can be as her confidence grows.

She really has potential as a post presence for us. The thing that made Katie Feenstra so dominant in conference is that she towered over the other bigs in the league. Im not saying that Avery will end up at that level but I think that she has the potential to be a very good one.
