I think that next year's team is going to be better. I guess MLB will keep me busy until November.

With all of the adversity that this team went through this season, this was a great season and the team will definitely be better next year.

Next year will definately be better with Megan coming back and everyone coming back with more experience. It should help us come tourney time. This years team was too inexperienced and it showed today but not to take anything from what they accomplished this year. Great job by Coach Green and his team.

Thanks for the great year...I'm confident next year will be even better...and I'd also like to say...I only was able to see the Liberty/SMU game, plus the Liberty/Wintrhop game in person...but I watched most of the rest through Sky Angel...and I even got ESPN Full Court just so I could see this game
...and I want to give props to #22 Rachel Hammond...this girl must be only 5'7" but she hustles the entire game...it seems like they only played her towards the end of the year...but if she starts knocking down some more jumpshots (and sometimes she's money...but right now sometimes she's airball too, but I think shes only gonna get better!)...she's gonna be a force...just super quick reflexes and is willing to dive head first if needed...
Plus she chose Rick Tocchet's (ice hockey player for the Philadelphia and later Pittsburgh...think he wore 92 for a while for one team, and 22 for another...but the same mentality...Rick Tochet broke his jaw in a playoff game at Pittsburgh...lied to the trainer and said he was okay, and went out and scored the gamewinner)...Hammond is the mirror image in terms of effort!
Also happy with the rest of the team...Carey Green is the man...what more can I say...nothing to be ashamed of...great year!

Rachel Hammond is going to be a great player for us the next 3 years. Her confidence just got better as the season progressed. I like her hustle and determination. Sometimes plays "out of control" due to inexperience but good things are going to happen with her in the lineup. LU had 5 very promising freshmen on this year's team to say the least.

Itll be interesting to see how the one or two newcomers fit into things for next year with everybody likely coming back next year

I think I speak for many when I say this year's team exceeded my expectations. Considering the turnovers and the reliance on so many unproven freshmen, I would just have been content finding a way to win the Big South. But even when Megan went down, this team showed the type of depth and heart it possesses. Coach Green is going to have a tough time scheudling teams next year because the word is getting out that we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Congrats on another outstanding season, ladies.

Do you know something that I don't know? When you said "with everybody likely coming back next year," were you making a general statement or do you know of someone who may not come back next year?

I was simply making a general statement. I mean I see no reason why ANYBODY would not want to come back to the team next year. I have a feeling the whole team will be back plus whoever Coach Green brought in from the recruiting trail

With everyone coming back, I don't believe we have any scholies to give unless someone chooses to transfer. That's the negative side of our fantastic haul last signing day.

We do have two scholarships to give.

Were we short two scholies this season? If so, it makes Coach Green's coaching success all the more astonishing.

I don't think we were short two schollies...I think Green is just spacing them out a little bit more so that we'll be in a better position 4 years from now when the Frazees and company graduate. The reason we were able to sign all 3 of the triplets is b/c we had 7 to give, and we gave 5: The triplets plus Lightfoot and Hammond (Bream is a walk-on). And its only one schollie now...we do have one person coming, its just pesky eligibility things like grades and SAT scores that need to be worked on. But yes, it shall be interesting...I'm also interested in where we may look for recruiting, as coach Lange is from Australia (his wife is an assistant in the WNBA, she works with the San Antonio Silver Stars, Katie's team, and was a member of Australia's Olympic team) so in addition to going to Europe we may soon look down under for some talent...hey, it worked for the Winthrop men (even though Bradshaw or whoever is technically from New Zeland).

I know it has been said a 100 times but what a great job by the coaches & players. Losing some much from last year and then losing Megan. I hate that she was out but hopefully the others will make the most from their chance to step up. Looking forward to next year.

Even more impressive to do it during a "rebuilding year". Most posts I read on this site say that can't be done.

LU women should get even better
By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
March 22, 2006
There were some down faces in the small upstairs locker room at Allstate Arena Saturday night, but no one was crying. There was no sense of great devastation.
And then Liberty University freshman Moriah Frazee hit on the key point:
"At least no one has to go out on this note," she said.
The 68-43 loss to DePaul in the NCAA tournament wasn't altogether unexpected. The Blue Demons had too much talent and too much experience for Liberty to counter, and the game was essentially over after five minutes.
But, as Frazee said, no one's career ended Saturday night. Liberty is one of a handful of teams across the nation with no seniors, and most of the key contributors this season were sophomores and freshmen.
Oh, and that other freshman will be back next year, too. Megan Frazee was the dynamic presence Liberty sorely missed, the type of player who could draw double and triple teams to open shots up for other players.
And while Flames coach Carey Green was quick to point out, "we're not a one-woman team," that one woman was a difference maker. When she went down in January with a torn ACL, Liberty went into an offensive funk that it never climbed out of.
The Flames have plenty of terrific role players, but none are capable of taking over a game like Megan Frazee can. When she returns next year, point guard Allyson Fasnacht will be able to run the offense instead of being a go-to scorer. Shots will open on the wing for Courtney Watkins. Karolina Piotrkiewicz will be able to rebound and clean up around the basket without feeling like she has to be a dominating scorer.
In short, everything will return to normal, and that's bad news for the rest of the Big South Conference.
After Megan got hurt, the Flames were still plenty good enough to win the Big South regular-season title by four games over runner-up High Point.
LU then survived two scares at home to win the tournament title for the 10TH straight season and advance to the NCAA tournament.
In retrospect, Megan's injury would end up as a blessing for the Flames. Liberty's remaining players had to learn to gut their way through games. The Flames won just about every close game they played (save for the January loss at High Point) and won 14 straight before losing to DePaul.
Not too bad for a "rebuilding" year.
"Some people weren't expecting us to win when (Megan) was there," Moriah said.
"So overall, we came together and accomplished something. I think that was really positive. It says a lot about our team."
