SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The San Antonio Silver Stars named Olaf Lange assistant coordinator of video services and player development, announced General Manager and Head Coach Dan Hughes.

Lange, the husband of Silver Stars assistant coach Sandy Brondello, joins the Silver Stars after spending two seasons at Liberty University where he was the associate head coach for the Flames.

“We feel extremely fortunate to add Olaf to our staff,” said Hughes. “His basketball expertise and international experience will be a real addition for our players and staff.”

A native of Berlin, Germany, Lange spent 10 years coaching men’s and women’s teams in Europe, leading Ros Casares Valencia (Spain) to the 2004 Supercup championship and the Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club to the men’s 2003 FIBA Europe Cup title.

Lange also served as head coach for the German national women’s basketball team from 2001-03 and was an assistant coach for the men’s national team in 2003. Prior to his coaching career, Lange studied sport science at Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin from 1991-95.

Olaf is actually married to Sandy Brondello, one of the Silver Stars' assistant coaches.

I believe there remains the possibility that Olaf's potential replacement might still wind up elsewhere if his former boss lands the right gig.

Its funny that Olaf would be headed tot he Alamo City the same time Katie is leaving.

That will not be happening. He will stay put.

I don't know, but the person everyone's dancing around is Sherard. It's not official, but he should still be working at LU next year.

Super, are you talking as a girls' asst. coach or as some type of administrator in the athletic dept.?

Tell me that doesn't have Sherard written all over it.

And by former boss, I am referring to PG.

This is a great situation for him and he doesn't have to uproot his family.

Why would he make that career move...
...he's been an assistant in the ACC and falls all the way to asst coach for a Big South womens team? That makes no sense to me...unless he loves this area and just wants to stay part of LU in case a MBB assistants job opens up.

A wise decision on Mr. Lange's part. Now is the time to get out after 2 years of no recruiting for the Ladies.

truth slayer or sayer broke this info, and sherard has been offered the job. he likes being in the commonwealth and from what was told to me, he woud rather not uproot the family. alexis has always been touted as a solid teacher of the game and that is what coach green is looking for since olaf left.
