Even if the regular-season title streak ends, No. 2 might not be a bad place to be for Liberty. Either way, you're getting a game against a bad team in round 1 (CSU or Winthrop), but you avoid a potential matchup with UNCA on its home floor in the semifinals.

I would rather HPU meet UNCA in the semifinals...HPU seems more likely to lose to them than us. The Big South has also had different regular season and tournament champions. UNCG won the regular season title 3 times, including in 1997 when our reign began. Campbell has also won a regular season title, and had a tournament title during Radford's reign.

Its the conference tournament streak that is the most important IMHO. Its going to the Big Dance that people remember.

That said, another regular season title sure would be nice.

I know it would not be bad to be in 2nd, and we still are the favorites to win the title until we are dethroned, but it's still very nice to have that streak in tact. Yes, the conference tournament streak is far and away the most important.

I agree with lang...2nd place may be the best place for us at this point.

I'd like to see Highpoint and LU win out...I also agree 2nd place in the tournament would be the best place for us. We avoid playing UNC asheville on their home floor, and if we do play Highpoint in the final and lose, we would still go to the NIT. Having said that, I still think LU can win the Big South Tournament again and keep the streak intact...but it's nice to have options in case the unthinkable happens.
