Well the team is on the road against a team who is 1-9 at home. Their overall record is 4-20 and 1-7 in the conference. We beat them back on January 22 in the Vines Center 69-42 but LU is not playing good basketball right now so this could get interesting tonight at 7:00pm. Hopefully the team will win tonight

In the not too distant past this would be an easy 30 or 40 point win. But with the way we are playing right now.....?

I bet this will not be interesting.

Winthrop hung tough with Radford the other night, only lost by three at home.

Right now things look very good. We are up 41-21 at the break. 6-8 from 3 point range. Scoring is balanced which is a good thing. A little of what we have been used to over these last several years.

41-21 LU at halftime. LU is shooting lights out thus far. Shooting 70% from the floor and 75% from the perimeter (6-8 ).

OK maybe I was too optimistic. Can I recast my vote for a 50 pt win?

I don't think that will happen. Starting to get a little sloppy now.

Radford 64 High Point 42 with 5:50 to go in the game at the Dedmon Center.

Does that mean there would be a tie for first if Radford were to hang on? We have to hope that someone else knocks them off since HP gets the tie breaker.

there would be a three way tie for first place at 7-2 between High Point, LU, and Radford.

Radford 71 High Point 55 with about 14 seconds to go.

The game got really sloppy down the stretch for us but when you are up by 30 points who really cares. Now we got 3 straight games at home.

at least we won tonight despite the 27 turnovers.

In fairness we forced 27 turnovers too... if we stay even with a team in TO's we will be OK... if we force as many as we give up, I can't complain. Sure it would be best to only have 10 turnovers and force 30... but realistically even is good.
Things got really ragged late... the officials (understandably so in a 35 point game) stopped calling fouls unless CSI had to be brought in.
Bottom-line, good win.
Think of this... we are a FT away from being in sole possession of first place and not as many doomsday opinions. Things aren't perfect but the sky isn't falling yet. It is actually funny how hard we are being on a team that is 7-2 and right at top 100 in the country... I guess this is a bad year... a good problem to have if this is a BAD year, all things considered.
